Curves
Does anyone go to curves? It is a gym sort of, you do circuit training. You switch between machines and cardio every 30 seconds. I am just looking for feedback. Need to get in shape for the wedding!

Re: Curves
I just joined this week. I have been 3 times. I really like it. I don't get bored, b/c you change stations every 30 seconds. And, believe it or not, I DO break a sweat.

Re: Curves
I have a membership and love it! I've lost 15 pounds since I joined in June. I like that it is only 30 minutes - that way I have less excuses not to go! Which Curves do you all go to? Maybe we can go and have a 'brides' session!

Re: Curves
Membership is $39/mnth if you go for a year, and $49/mnth if you go month to month. There is also a one time fee which varies depending on when you join (ie. if they have any promotions)

Re: Curves
There are locations all over - I go to the one in Bellmore on Merrick Road. Sometimes I go to the one in Levittown on Hempsted Tpke. Check out their website for the location nearest you - www.curvesforwomen.com.

You just show up, and join in on whatever station is empty.

Re: Curves
I went and checked out the new curves in Farmingdale last night but the owner told me to come back on sat-- I have a couple of questions--does it help develop muscle of just burn fat? The people that were in there were very overweight. I need to lose ten pounds and would like to have some muscle definition in my arms, would curves help me or is the regular gym better for what I want.

Re: Curves
I have the same question. I recently quit smoking, so the pounds are starting to add up ( I am not eating more, i just think my metabolism was sped up from the smoking, and has returned to its normal speed) I would like to shed 10 pounds, maintain my weight from there, and firm up a bit. Would this place work for that? Or should I stick to the regular gym (which I NEVER go to)

Re: Curves
There is one in Smithtown, off of main street, near Block Buster and Old Street Pub. It is on the side of that shopping center facing the Post Office.

Re: Curves
I was thinking of joining Curves, but right now I am doing a toning and aerobics/weight training thru the adult ed in Bellmore /Merrick. 31.00 for 10 weeks hey I thought to myself not bad. It also has helped me lose inches and weight I am also doing Weight Watchers. I feel so energized after class and I sleep pretty well also. The class is an hour long. There are people there of all shapes and sizes. Try the local adult ed also.
