Re: Curves

I've always thought of it being for 'older' women, like in their 50's or 60's. I think their concept is good for people to start becoming active but i don't think their concept works after you get to a certain fitness level.

i used to go there. I liked it more than other gyms because it was a women's only - which means no creepy guys to deal with. lol. My only real problem with it though is that it seems to be a place for elderly women to just chill with their friends. So while I'm actually trying to get a good work out, they're just sitting there chatting away, going Oh So Slow while i'm trying to move onto their machine next. Grrr. I don't think I lost much weight there either. I don't feel like it was enough of a work out for me. I definitely lost a lot more just going to the track every day and power walking.

Re: Curves

thanks girls, i was thinking of doing curves and incorporating my elipitcal at home,

I am having so much trouble getting motivated i know what i have to do i just done get up and do it!!!

I belong to a gym but they guys there watch my co co nuts bounce up and down its very annoying and i feel uncomfortable!

I thought maybe at least it would make me get some sorta work out for 30 mintues! lol

I wouldn't let the guys make you feel uncomfortable...eff them. You get your workout in and just ignore them. Who cares what they look at as long as they don't touch or makce crude comments. Then report their arse's.

I used to be so self-concious of going to a co-ed gym because well I'm fat. I felt like everyone was watching me. Finally I decided eff them...if they want to look it's their problem..I'm going to do what I gotta do.

I go to NYSC now and I go in..do my workout and leave...never giving anyone in there a thought. At a certain point you just can't care about people.

Now if I could only getting my eating under control I'd be golden

If it motivates you and moves you then go for it. I just enjoy walking and find its best for me instead of the gym. I get stressed out at the gym too much and not over the muscle men just see a hot girl pisses me off since she is reading a mag while on the bike and I am busting my butt running or on the stair master and NOTHING changes but me wanting to die.

Lucille Roberts is sooo crowded!!! OMG...it's just crazy! I much prefer NYSC.

UGH I hate men like that...FH used to go to a gym like that and make fun of those guys..now that he goes to NYSC he totally loves it...none of that nonsense. I'm sorry you have to deal with them.

Oh i hate it when i see anyone on their phone or reading a mag and just ever so slowly working out while I'm pratically killing myself and a huge ball of sweat. I want to yell at them and curse them!

Sorry cuttin in.....
I love Curves.....I really don't like seeing guys when I work out and I don't always know what to do. So with them I go around 2 times and work my tush off on every machine and I feel good afterwards......

Re: Curves

Maybe you can do a trial membership at both Curves and Planet Fitness and see which one you feel most comfortable in.

Re: Curves

I hated hated hated Curves.
Why? I joined a gym that is half the price and includes tanning. I need to work out at night and on weekends. Curves in NJ - I'm not sure how it is by you guys, closes at early hours like 8PM on weekdays, closed on Sundays and closed by 1PM on Saturdays. This just didn't work for me.

The work out is great - you will lose inches for sure. My first month I lost 13 overall! BUT I hated the horrible music and the chick saying 'please move to the next station' and I'd get stuck behind some chatty chicks who wouldn't MOVE TO THE NEXT STATION!

I know girls who LOVE Curves, it just wasn't for me. Good luck!

Re: Curves

I LOVE Planet Fitness, it was NO CONTRACT and when I was forced to leave (due to a new job closer to my home) there were no questions asked and to this day I miss it. Everyone there was really NON-judging and if you had questions, people would help you. It was only like $10 a month! I miss PF :(
