I am pretty sure this has been posted before, but has anyone done Curves? Seen any changes in tone or muscle? I want to lose a little before my wedding (maybe 5-8 lbs.), but would like get more toned pre-honeymoon. TIA!
if you are new to working out it will be okay but for gym veterans it is almost like a warm up. I would like to join to supplement my other workouts though.

Re: Curves anyone?
I LOVE it!! My theory on it now is that you can make it as hard as you want to. I make sure to wear my heart rate monitor to force myself to stay in the 'fat burning' zone. You could easily go and have a lame workout or you could go and be semi hard core about it. When I go I make sure my heart rate is between 145-160 for the majority of my workout. Also since when I go it usually isn't crowded I will sometimes do the cardio portions for more than 30 seconds and I do some of the machines (specifically arms and thighs) more than 30 seconds.
Have you ever been? Some of them will let you have a free 1 week trial. It really is what you make it. For me it gets me exercising 4-5 days a week which I wasn't making myself do before.
Have my one month measurements on May3rd so I will let you know how it went.

Thanks so much for the advice! Definitely let me know how the measurements go! I am having the same problem figuring in time for the gym. I think with just a half hour, I could definitely find time more days in the week. If anyone is interested in forming a buff brides Curves club, let me know! It would be fun to all work out together and cheer each other on!

Re: Curves anyone?
nov04LIbride, are you interested in taking a class with me at Powerhouse in Stony Brook either M & W nights?
I joined just for those 2 nights, just in case I get stuck at work and can't get to the gym near me.
Also, are you interested in walking during lunch? Last spring and summer I walked 3 times a week for about 1/2 to 45 minutes. I am starting again, I walked the other day and it was really nice. We can talk wedding stuff too

Re: Curves anyone?
I would definitely do walking Tara and Jules! Especially with the nice weather! Where is Power House? Tell me the details! I was actually thinking about doing the place like Curves in the shopping center with Green Cactus...There is a discount for SB employees, and I know a few people who joined and lost quite a few inches in just a month or two...
I have been such a work out slacker lately...

Re: Curves anyone?
Julie and Beth, how about walking on Wednesdays and Fridays? Beth I can meet you at the Admin building and then we can walk over and meet Julie. What do you think?
Powerhouse on 347, right near Friendly's and thet Bagel Place. I got a membership for 2 days a week for a year for 129 or 149, I have to look at the contract. If I can't get to the gym near me during the week, I'll go there.

Re: Curves anyone?
One of my girlfriends did curves and lost like 30 lbs. She had gained over 90 lbs from her pregnancy...she lost the bulk of it on her own, but had trouble droping the last thirty. Her arms are even cut! She looks good!
