Ive seen those paper cutters that cut circles up to 9 inches. Does anyone have that? Are they difficult to use? Im thinking of doing a circular invite for my friends party but I dont know if its worth all the work of the cutting just for the novelty of it being round? Thoughts?

Re: Cutting big circles...
I know you live in Brooklyn, but some scrapbook stores have die cutting machines, that you can use for free, if you buy paper from them. They might have a large circle die.
Creative memories has a circle cutter that is actually pretty easy to use.
Buy like you said....is it worth it for you to buy it for only a one time use?? I dont know

Re: Cutting big circles...
I am not postive, but I think some of those circle cutters puts a tiny whole in the center of the circle.
Creative Memories has a real easy to use cutting system for making circles. They are a bunch listed on ebay.

Re: Cutting big circles...
Im not worried about buying it for a one time use. Im more worried about buying it and then it being a huge pain to do them. So I wanted to ask you guys if they work easily?
No scraping stores near me so the free die cutting machines wont work.
So do they put a hole in the center of the circle? if so, they are useless to me. Is that true?

Re: Cutting big circles...
The creative memories one doesn't put a little whole in the paper and is real easy to use. I have one if you want to borrow it for this project - I have to check and see how big the circles are.

Re: Cutting big circles...
Thanks christine...i looked on ebay and cant figure out how they work. They dont seem that expensive so I woudl probably just buy it but I have a few questions:
a) If I had to do say, 100 circles, would they all come out the same and would it be fairly easy? Or it is a really pain staking process?
b) Does it cut thru thick cardstock well or will it be a problem?

Re: Cutting big circles...
All the circle would be the same size.
It would be monotonous to do 100 but not difficult at all.
Cardstock is no problem at all.

Re: Cutting big circles...
Thanks Christine. Sorry to drive you crazy with all these questions but can you explain how it works? Is it just a plastic circle and a razor blade? Or is there some tool that makes the cutting more exact?
Have you seen the friskar one? I dont know how that one works either but it looks different the other kind. Is one better than the other?

Re: Cutting big circles...
You're not driving me crazy
The plastic circle has several grooves, or tracks if you will, that are used as a guide for the cutting blades.
The blades have little pegs that fit in the grooves and slide around to cut the paper.
In the scrapping world, the CM cutting system is rated higher then the fiskars But I have never used it to say one way or the other.

Thanks :D
Ok...one more question and i promise to stop.
When you put the template on to cut...is there a way that you can steady the paper underneath so it doesnt slide around? I would think it would be hard to get all the way around without accidently sliding the template.

Re: Cutting big circles...
THey thought of everything - the bottom of the plastic circle has some non-skid dots to keep it steady.
you do need a certain mat - I went through a few razors before figuring that out.../
like this?

Re: Cutting big circles...
I had both and I can tell you from experience that the CM system is far easier than the Fiskars. I actually threw my Fiskars away it was such a pain!!!

i have the CM system - but the circles are small - only about 4 or 5 inches. it is very, very easy to use.
