Re: Cutting the guestlist
Praying people say no. And I'm not kidding. Fh invites everyone he meets, but we live 6 hours from wedding site so I'm seriously praying people say no.

Re: Cutting the guestlist
What we just started to do is people without someone is not coming with a guest and yes they know alot of people that will be there. The other thing is we are somewhat doing a A & B list. FH started a new job and wants to add more people but, I told him to wait and see what nos we get first.

Re: Cutting the guestlist
We had an A and B list thing going on too but with the economy and the fact that some people are just plain jerks, it looks like a LOT of our A listers are going to say no... Most of our B listers are people who actually CARE about us and will make the effort to show up (can you tell I'm bitter??) so I just decided to invite everyone.. I kind of already feel like I know who will say yes/no.. At least I hope so because I invited more people than I can afford to pay for!

Re: Cutting the guestlist
our prob is that our OOTers who normally woudlnt come are using our wedding as a reunion with their fam... so its reallly freaking me out.... like people from NC who i havent seen since i was like 10 are coming up to see their parents/uncles/aunts etc...

Re: Cutting the guestlist
I cut mine tremendously by making an 'A' and 'B' list.
I felt bad, but I did it. I know a lot of people who've done that and their list isnt as big.

Yeah we have that issue too... We invited almost 50 people from different countries (FMIL has 8 sisters who live all over the place) and they all wanted to come so it would be like a reunion!!! Luckily FFIL told them they can't come because he doesn't have room for all of these people to stay in his house for 2 weeks.. I am praying the vast majority of them listen to him or I am screeewed!

Us too with the jobs. FH has made new friends at his new job, but we're not sure about giving them invites and we are going to wait it out. I initially wanted to invite about 20 co-workers of mine, but Im about to get laid off and who knows if I will remain in contact with them ya know?

Re: Cutting the guestlist
I invited all and prayed for no's. And that isnt working out so far. I have in one week had 45 people say yes and only 5 nos and the Nos were ones we knew about but sent an invite anyway. I need about 20 or so Nos

Re: Cutting the guestlist
I am just hoping we have a lot of 'no's'
Because as of right now, I am sooo tempted to put my foot down with the amount of people FIL's are inviting. I feel like they are inviting every person they have ever talked to. FFIL just gave us a list of 8 people from work he wants us to invite. That's 16 people! I am so aggravted. If they weren't giving us some money towards RH, I would totally have to put my foot down.
I feel like I rather them give us no money, so that we don't have the world invited to our wedding.

Re: Cutting the guestlist
we had a B list but we never got to use it.. by the time we started getting no's (we had to chase down alot of people) it was a little tacky to send out the 'B' list invites...they def. would have known they were not on the A list.. My advice if you really want to have a B list, send the invites out WAY in advance...and if possible have 1 set of RSVP cards w/ 1 RSVP date.. and a few for the B listers w a later RSVP date..
I'm annoyed we had to chase so many people down, just to hear them say no.. if they had just sent it in right away we could have invited more people!!!

I only invited coworkers that I am really FRIENDS with...we go to eachothers houses..hang out on weekends..etc.. if you have people like that at work I would invite them..ones that you know you'd still remain in contact with..people won't be offended..i have about 20 people in my department and only invited 4 of them.

financial is not so much an issue...its more of overcrowding the room.. its the last thing i want to happen... its not a huge room in the least bit... with it set up for 170, tables were basically on top of one another and thatg scared me
