dads ashes

Original post by soontobemrsag

Ok so everyone knows my dad passed away like 5 years ago - i have his ashes. Is it weird/morbid to have the box at the church - only a few people will know what it is...... I just dont know - i mean if someone asks whats the box - id have to say thats my dad..... kinda unsure about the whole thing................

I think it might be nice if you had a picture charm on your bok... those are so pretty and a great way to have ur dad with you all day. I think too many peoples questions about the box might upset u more... jmo

I think your idea + all of these ideas are very sweet. I think it might be very emotional though, so I'd be prepared for that. But I think it's a beautiful idea.

alot of girls have a pic of their dad sewn inside their dress so that way he is still walking them down the aisle

That's what I'm doing, but my grandmother.

I think you should have the ashes there, you'll be thinking about him anyway regardless, so if you cry for him you cry for him, there's nothing wrong with that!

sorry don't have time to read everyone else's replies.

sorry for your loss

I would say do it. or (this might sound weird) take some out and put it in a lockets to wear.
my friends father passed 3 years ago and they sprinkled his ashes on his parents lake, but my friend kept some and right now has them in a little keepsake box, but she plans on putting them in a locket and wearing it on her wedding day.

I know if my father passed I'd do that (as he wants to be cremated as well)

my plan for my wedding day was to go out to calverton and have a minute with my grandfather who just passed in october.. I told FH that a few months ago and he didn't like the idea... but understood where I was coming from, that's when we were hoping to book majestic gardens, so it was rather close.. but now we're at verdi's in westbury and its too far.. so i think i might go out there the day before or the day after and do it. as weird as it sounds, i kinda want a picture of my in my dress standing over his site.

its really what you want..personally i wouldnt do it bc i know i would get to emotional...but if you know you can keep it together than i say do it...its whatever you want

ITA... my mom and grandfather passed away 4 mos. apart 5 yrs ago though. I have her ashes too... but don't think I'm going that route. I want to be happy and I know she would want the same. I am buying a BoK charm/frame and inserting her pic though. More discreet and personal for me. But you really should do what you feel you're comfortable with. I would breakdown at some point.

Sorry............... see i am having a memorial table outside the reception room not inside with pictures of my dad & my grandpa and FH's dad & grandmother. I have to do it so that i feel they are with us. I am so not sure about the ashes thing i DO NOT want to break down at the church.. grrrrr

Sorry about your dad....

The Woodlands have fireplace mantles throughout and I am going to have family pictures places on them... thankfully even all of my grandparents are alive but all of FH's have passed away and I asked his mom to start looking for pictures now so I will be sure to have them there the day of.

If you want to have your dad's ashes and it means a lot to you then you should definitely do it!
