Singer Marc Almond Moved Out of Intensive Care

British singer Marc Almond, who was badly injured in a motorcycle crash last month, is recovering in hospital and has been moved out of intensive care.

Almond, who had a worldwide hit in 1981 with 'Tainted Love' as part of duo Soft Cell, was the passenger on a bike that collided with a car near St. Paul's Cathedral in central London. He suffered severe injuries after he was thrown into the road. The driver of the motorcycle was also hospitalized.

The 47-year-old singer has been moved out of intensive care. The Royal London Hospital said the singer was 'continuing with his recovery.'

Almond formed Soft Cell in Leeds, northern England with synthesizer player David Ball in 1980.

Tainted Love, an electronic cover of the soul classic, went on to become Britain's biggest-selling single of 1981 and was also a huge hit in the United States.

Soft Cell split in 1984 but reunited for a show in 2001.
