Damn Passports! Advice

OK so I just found out our passports were approved and being delivered to us now!!!! Yeah!!!

Warning/Advice-
We thought that going for them in January was enough time especially since mine was just a renewal! Well, we went January 21st and they just got approved yesterday!!! FH needed to supply them with 4 pieces of documentation that was at least 10 years old like high school transcripts, W-2 forms, year book pages etc!!!!! So all together they took 10 weeks to process so far!!!!!!! Go early if you haven't gotten yours yet!

I never heard of submitting transcripts to get a passport and W-2 (????) That's very odd.

why did you need all that stuff? all we had to give them was a birth certificate, and both of us have never had a passport before.
We applied at the end of Feb, and the website said they have been mailed and should be here by the end of the week.

This seems VERY odd to me. The only thing FH and I needed were our driver's license and our birth certificates.

All they did was take original birth certificate, and I think a copy of my liscence because they need 2 forms of ID. They shouldn't have needed that other stuff.

I think that is very strange, why would they need this information. A transcript???how is it relevant what your FH's grades were in High School??
Weird.

Thank God I've had mine since I was born and I also hold an Irish passport. SInce 9-11, they have been CRAZY with the security and have been asking for a lot more documentation for new passports.

That sounds strange.

I got mine last month, the turn around was about a month to 6 weeks, and all I needed was my original birth certificate and a drivers license.

The only reason I can possibly think of that he would need all of that, would be if he didn't have his original birth certificate or a photo ID.

I had my driver's license and original birth certifcate and my old passport but mine still took so long. When they came in the mail his actually came a day before mine too!

He didn' t have a driver's license he had a non driver's ID from the DMV w/ his original birth certificate. The guy said that was enough even though we had his social security card, insurance cards, voter registration cards etc. The guy also said it would be super super quick like tops 7 weeks! yeah right!

We went to the post office on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

I think this whole thing just went soooo strange and it might have been like a jinx against us!
