Re: Dance Lessons??
I got the Cal Pozo off of ebay. I got it but Dale. He was another story. He is good at free style but anything else fughettaboutit. Not that I want it to be choreographed but I want to look better than a junior high schoolers slow dancing for the first time.

Re: Dance Lessons??
Fh and I took dancing lessons at Hauppauge High School- it was about $80 for the both of us for 8 weeks. If you have time, you should check out the adult ed programs at your local high schools- way cheaper than a dancing school. We took it with friends- so much fun! (for me, not him)

Re: Dance Lessons??
I live in Amityville, and I can't afford $600 for lessons...high school isn't offering anything now. Any other ideas?

Re: Dance Lessons??
I think we got 6 private lessons (plus one free lesson before you sign) then 4 group lessons and then 4 'party lessons'

FH and I are going to Arthur Murray now. He is loving it (it was his idea, shhh). We had our group lesson and practice session last night and we got back to his house and started dancing for his parents

Re: Dance Lessons??
We took our dancing lessons at a place called REMEMBER WHEN in St. James/Smithtown. They are AWESOME!! There is NO contract! The lessons are 55 dollars per couple for 1 hour of instruction. You bring in your song, and they choreograph your first dance. If you bring in a video, they will also videotape your lesson so you can practice from it at home, and also see your progress at each lesson. We only took THREE lessons, and we blew everyone away on our wedding day!I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend them.
Karen
PS: Watch out with Arthur Murray!!! You have to sign a contract for lessons. We did, and when we realized my DH's schedule was too out of control to fit the lessons in, we told them we wanted to cancel for our money back. First they said okay. Then they called a week later to say we had to ask in writing. So I wrote a letter. About 2 weeks went by, no check in the mail. I got phone call saying that my DH signed the contract, so HE has to write the letter! So he wrote them the letter. That was MONTHS ago and still no refund of our deposit!!!!!

Re: Dance Lessons??
Second vote for Remeber When. We just had our first lesson. They give you a complentary 30-45 minute lesson first. We had no exp. but learned a lot in a short time. we have our next lesson on Sat. They are extremly flexible with times as well. My FH has a tight schedule and they were very accomadating.
