Dance lessons

Anyone take dance lessons for their wedding? I'm looking into this but when I search I only find posts from years ago. I'd like to go somewhere recommended. (BTW I'm in Smithtown)

Bet U Can Dance in East Northport has wedding dance classes. His prices are on the website also. I have not take the dance classes but I have been taking zumba there for over two years and the owners a great guy.

We are attending dance lessons and it has been such a blast! It's our guaranteed date night, which is so nice. We go to Dance Obsession in Farmingdale. Very reasonable compared to other places and the instructors are fabulous. We use Rosalie, she is the biggest sweetheart and made us feel so comfortable. HTH!

John from Ballroom Dance Long Island. com without the spaces. He will make appointments in a dance location close to you. we have taken 2 lessons so far and have our dance almost complete and I feel comfortable doing it (i'm the one that can't dance). John is great.

If you just want to dance (not learn a 'first dance' routine) then i know you can do it very reasonably through Stony Brook Univ. or Suffolk CCC. My parents and In-laws just did this for my wedding (they are both in Smithtown too)

Thanks everyone. We started lessons last night at Dance Magic Ballroom in St. James and had a blast! We are excited to continue there.

This! I bought a Groupon too! But haven't used it yet so I don't know if he's any good. I need all the help I can get. I'm very stiff trying to dance!

I used John and we absolutely loved him and the dance that he created for our song!!

He is so nice and easy to work with and affordable compared to the other places I researched!

I would NOT recommend Arthur Murray my husband and I had a bad experience with them. We used the one in Port Jeff. I only suggest going there if you want to have a long boring converation and not learn how to dance. Is all they did was waste our time by giving us tours of the studio and trying to sell us more lessons. We would have a 45 minute session and only actually dance for about 15 minutes of this!

Thanks for the tip! I was looking into dance lessons also. Can anyone recommend a place in Nassau County?

I agree. John is affordable and a nice guy. Didn't teach us the same steps as Arthur Murray but enough to do a few little interesting things that kept people surprised. We're definitely not professional dancers now though. hahaha
Arthur Murray, we took one cheap intro lesson, the taught the proper steps which was great, but the salesmen afterwards was horrific. Really slimy. Trying to get us to buy these outrageous packages. A real rip off. They are so expensive I don't think they are worth it in my opinion.

I'd go with John, he is flexible with timing and gets you through a dance routine. You won't look like dancing with the stars with him but I think he's good.
