Dance Lessons
Did any one take a dance lesson? Just looking for one or two classes in Nassau. FH and I practiced dancing last night and we both have no dancing skills. We don't want a choreographed dance but we need more than swaying back & forth, FH spinning me and a dip.I was shocked when he actually suggested taking a class, a guess it's an early Valentine's Day gift

LOL coincidentally i feel the same way about the 'swaying back and forth' and would love to know if anyone has recommendations in Suffolk as well.

Dance Lessons
We've been taking lessons for a few months now but not in suffolk. To be honest, IMO taking one or two classes may not be worth it. They may teach you a basic step, like the Rumba (a box step) but if you just repeat the same step over and over again it is kind of the same as swaying back and forth. Plus one or two lessions probably will not be enough to learn the correct timing/count so unless you guys have great rhythm you'll likely be repeating the same basic step off beat which may look worse than just swaying back in forth. Anyway, just something to think about before you spend the money on a class. If you are set on doing them I def recommend going all the way and having them choreograph and teach you the correct timing. We started in Novemeber with no prior real dance experience and I wish we would've started earlier lol :( I didn't realize how hard it would be.

Dance Lessons
We took a bunch of lessons at Dance Magic Ballroom in St. James. We really enjoyed them. We took a break for a while, but need to get back to taking a few before the wedding!

I agree. We are taking lessons in NYC. We originally just wanted to learn a few basic steps so we didn't look silly. Our song is a foxtrot beat and after a couple of lessons, we found ourselves repeating the same step over and over again so we extended our lessons to have the instructor choreograph the dance to our actual song. We don't want it to look like a performance but we want to be in time with the music.
You should check sites like groupon and living social. I have seen a number of specials for dance lessons in LI. Sorry I can't remember the names, I didn't pay that much attention since there wasn't anyway we could make it out there.
