Did anyone start yet? How far in advance should we start taking lessons? I got an e-mail from a studio last week in East Northport and I think I'm going to check them out... They will choreograph the dance for us. How many lessons are you girls taking? And, how much per lesson? I danced for 15 years, but have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to ballroom dancing!

That's who e-mailed me, and I think their prices sound good, but I'm not sure! We aren't sure if we were going to do the 5 or 10 classes, but that's a great idea to do it every week before the wedding! Thanks!

I think this is the place we're going to look in to as well, their rates seem the most reasonable of the places I've looked in to. We're probably going to do only one, MAYBE two private lessons, and possibly a few group ballroom lessons as well since they are considerably less money just for brush up.

I'm glad to know they're reasonable! I think I'll give them a call tomorrow! :)

We've been taking lessons at the Ballroom of Huntington for a few months already, up until the wedding. We've been doing private lessons... I think our package was $1,000.

Re: Dance Lessons... Sooo many questions!!
FH and I are immensely interested in this!! Can someone please share the prices with me??? Either post or FM me. PLEASE!! Also the information as to where this place is!
FH is VERY talll (6ft 6in) and so his feet are rather long... and he is SO going to step all over me!! ALSO, this is FH's biggest FEAR related to the wedding!!!! So I KNOW this will help ease that for him.

Re: Dance Lessons... Sooo many questions!!
For all others who are interested:
Pricing: 30/hr for 2 people, 40/hr for 3-4 people. (If you need more people, we can discuss this as well. We are very flexible and have taught up to 10 couples at a time.) As many lessons as you feel you need We teach from home and depending on where you reside, we can travel to you or you can travel to us. We are located in Long Island City (5 minutes from Manhattan).
We teach basic beginner lessons of six dances: (all American style) Rumba, ChaCha, Swing, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot. We have also taught salsa and various international styles.
If you have a song in mind, we can help do the choreography and/or teach you steps and moves that you can do, and you are more than welcome to do your own choreography.
We keep the price low because we don't consider ourselves movie star professionals and do it for fun. We teach the basics and a few flare moves and lots of technique. We did compete in collegiate ballroom dancing and we have taught many couples who thought they had 'two left feet' to dance
We are available on weekends (as my FH works late during the week) and could meet in house (either ours or yours). We don't teach at a studio now but have taught at two studios upstate.
As I said, we teach as many lessons as you feel you need and can go over an hour per lesson if you would like. We provide practice music at the lessons and for you to take home, and detailed dance sheets for practice. Let me know if you are interested and you can send me FM.

Re: Dance Lessons... Sooo many questions!!
I am using Ballroom Dance Long Island. My parents have taken lessons with him before and I like him a lot. We started about a month ago. He has couples that do it in 2 weeks and couples who start over a year in advance. He just prepares your first dance based on the time you have. Obviously the later you start the less other dances (besides your first dance) you will have time to learn.
