Not something I would be into, but if you like it, do it!

Re: Dancers At Wedding
I don't know, I'm kind of torn - I like seeing unique kinds of performances when I watch them on 4 weddings, etc, but I think a slow waltz wouldn't be as intriguing as a salsa or tango.

Well I'm Cuban and my FH is irish. I was going to have a bagpiper at the church and to have some latin flare I was going to have the dancers. I am not talking Heart to heart dancers from the 90's I'm talking professionals.

In my opinion that seems to turn the reception more into a show then a big party and celebration for what has happened earlier in the day. Not something I would have at my reception. It's all about you and your groom...not dancers to entertain your guests. JMO

I feel like it takes away from you and your fiance but if you are into it then go for it.

Maybe you could take latin dance lessons and do one yourself! That would be fun for you both (if FH is into it haha!)

How is it any different than having a cigar roller or a photobooth?

TIA. Not everyone's style and/or choices are going to jive with other people's vision of what a wedding *should* be. Do what you & fh want, because you know then that the two most important people will be pleased! If David Tutera could hire dancers for people's weddings, I wouldn't write anything off

I was a Champion Irish Step Dancer when I was younger so my mom is insisting that we have irish dancers during dinner.

Re: Dancers At Wedding
In my culture (Guyanese/Trinidadian) it is usually common to see this at a majority of weddings. Therefore a lot of our guests are used to seeing this and/or expecting it. FH's niece does Classical Indian dancing and asked us if she could dance at our wedding. We've seen her dance before and she is really good. So we are having her do a dance on each day.

It seems like you answered your own question. You obviously want to do this, so go for it.

I think it depends on the dancers but this is not my taste at all. Its your day, the focus should be on you. If you feel like your guests wouldn't want to get up and dance without dancers you should probably consider having a jazz or blues band or something so people can just listen and chill.

If you want it and have extra funds for it then do it!
I personally like the dancers if it somehow relates to the couple, like if the couple are dancers, its part of the family's culture, or if there are family members of the bride and groom somehow involved. IF they were family member dancers that would be really cool
If its just some random people IMO its just ok, but I'd like to see the bride and groom or parents pulled out to dance by the professional dancers maybe.
If its just random dancers coming out, imo its just a little strange but to each their own. Just an extra little bit of entertainment doesn't hurt. It will definitely give people something to talk about.

Re: Dancers At Wedding
just to clarify, if its cultural dancers i think thats different than just girls in black outfits standing on speakers like gogo girls trying to get your crowd 'pumped up to dance'...
i think it would fun if you are irish and did the irish step dancers, or flamanco dancers, or whatever your heritage.
