I kinda looked at it as a form of entertainment at dinner not something to get the crowd going. With an Irish and Cuban family you do not have to worry about getting anyone pumped they come in pumped : )

I personally think dancers as performers might be a little much, unless of course it is a common part of weddings in your culture. My first reaction if I saw that at a reception would be, 'This chick has watched too many episodes of 'My Fair Wedding!'' LOL

But here's a different take on that idea you might want to consider... My very blonde main line Philadelphia cousin married a great guy from South America, and they had a salsa instructor at their wedding reception to teach our American Irish family how to dance with his Columbian family - it was SO much fun! It really got the families enjoying the party together, especially since some only spoke English or Spanish and couldn't talk to each other.

I went to a wedding with performances and honestly I just wanted to dance and party. Cigar and photobooths are things that don't require everyone's attention and guests can skip it if they don't want to. If you do want performances I would want something cool and crazy instead of just tango and salsa which to me is a common thing to see.

I personally think that's ok because I'm having that. We are doing a cirque de soleil type of performance at dinner. (I listen to the cirque soundtrack everyday and its my favorite thing on the planet!)Granted it's only 20 minutes but its a variety show that guests can enjoy while eating..it has contortionists, samba dancers(for my brazilian family) and a pair of champion dancers. It's only 20-25 minutes so I think my guests will love it. No one in my family has ever seen anything like that live unless they want to Carnival in Rio so I think it will be cool!

edited for spelling.
