How did the test crafting go last night?
I'm curious.. I just looked all over the boards to see if you posted anything.

Ha...not so well. LOL
I didn't have a chance to get to the craft store near me, so I wasn't able to get the heat tool... So I wasn't able to play with that.
Then, the acrylic paints totally didn't work like I was sorta hoping they would LOL. So I'll run back to Michales today to get stamp pads...think I'll get a dark red color for my aisle runner...we'll see.
I did make one post...about photo frames... attaching flowers to them...but I decided against that so now I have 2 tins of purple and blue flowers to do something with. Just don't know. LOL. The ones I did work on I'm just gonna give to the BP if I can't get the glue off...LOL.
Sooo...that's that. HAHA.

Re: Dani

I just saw the pics of them. I like them.. you should put a pearl or something in the middle of the flower and maybe add another flower on them. Or maybe just add crystals to the middle of the flower and the frame itself. I didn't read too into the post bc you wrote SOLVED. Also, you can maybe put 2 flowers ontop of eachother but slightly turn one flower so you see the petals underneath .. this will make it thicker and look more realistic. And of course put something in the middle of them.

If you really don't like the frams and don't know what to do with the flowers.. maybe you can put them on the seat card name thingys (what are they called? but you know next to the persons name... and then put something in the middle of the flower of course!).
Also, you can use cork as a cheap stand for your place card seating name holder thingys. I found it in a DIY book... I am going to spray paint them silver.. then slice (with an exactoknife thingy) the bottom off so they have flat bottom (picture them laying sideways.. and so you don't want them to roll you need to make the bottom flat) and then slice a line in the top so you can place the card inside and it will hold up. If I had the book with me I'd take a pic with my cell and well you know the dilly wit what I like to do with that...

Also, If you are JUST stamping and not using any embossing powder then you can buy a regular colored ink pad and you don't even need to use the powder.. problem is.. I don't think there are any glitter ink pads.. so to get the glitter on.. you should get a CLEAR embossing stamp pad and then colored embossing powder with glitter in it in the color of your choice; and if you are using embossing powder (which in this case would be to get it GLITTERIZED) then you would need the heating tool. I wasn't sure about the acrylic paint.... had a feeling that might not work out so well... but I wasn't positive.

I signed off last night to do some projects myself.. only I went to get my 2 huge wedding crafts tuppowares... (well one is huge, the other is mediocre) my reclining chair was in 2 peices and some other tuppowares were infront of it... just looked like a huge mess of debri and I didn't want to get involved with pulling any of that out. So defeated I went to the couch and watched TV like a lazy bum.. all the while wishing I had it in me to dig through that stuff blocking it. (With Xmas tree up.. we had to rearrange some things). There were moments I regretted not doing it.. but whatever.

Re: Dani

I didn't do anything with the embossing kit yet... I want to wait till I get the heating tool. I may have to wait another week but we'll see. lol. Yeah, I didn't think the acrylic paint would work either, but I wanted to prove myself wrong I guess. LOL. Oh well..no biggie. HA.

As for the frames, I will be putting a little crystal in the middle of the flowers. I will be giving those ones to the BP... since they all get to pick ONE pic of the wedding to keep for themselves. soo..I'll let them have the pretty ones. As for the guests, I figured it woudl be better off to just give them plain ones...maybe I'll write something on the back, or make a poem to put in each one behind the pics...don't know yet. We'll see how that works out as well. HA

If you can give me pics of that thing that you were talking about...? You got me nice and lost! HAHA What DIY book do you have? I soo need to get my harnds on one. LOL. So far all the ideas I got where either mine totally, or ones I saw on here...

I reeealy want to work on my card box!!! HAHA
Oh, and my unity candles. How can I get my monogram on the middle unity candle..??

I'm not 100% sure yet...I have to look over all my projects..I know I'll be doing something with my card box with it... and once I get my invitations I'll know if I am making my own pocketfolds or border paper that I may use that on. We shall see.. LOL

By that thing I was talking about do you mean the cork stand for the table seating cards?
Whatever I lost you one.. I will do my best to attempt taking a pic and sending that tonight.

It's a book called DIY Bride! I got all my ideas and instructions (pictures included) from there. Even the shake box STD magnets I am making.. the steps came from this book. Literally I am making ALMOST every other craft project they have in there... from the STD and invitations to the aisle runner and the time capsule and the shadow box of memories, programs, etc. It's an awesome book - you just put your spin on all the design ideas. I asked one of my BM's (she likes to be crafty) to make the time capsule for me - I could do it myself but I thought it was a nice way to include her by having her do something she likes to do and she can be proud of it. I got the book from Barnes and Noble.. By FAR my BEST BOOK purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are coming out with a new one... but not until 2010... I was pissed it was after my wedding! There's a web site but not pages from the book are on there.

Oh, so if you give them the plain frames that's fine too... you could even engrave the date in the corner or something. Might not be worth it though.

Did you try AC Moore? I don't know what Michael's and AC are like by you.. but by me I like AC better for stamping and embossing.

Yes...that's what I was talking about ... the cork thing..LOL. Do you have the link to the website so I can at least look at it and see if I should get it or not..? LOL. I already did soo many projects so I don't know if it may be worth me getting...but it would maybe give me addational ideas. There's a barns and noble right by my job...so I would be able to go during lunch.

Ok, then I'll have to check AC More out..>Mabbye I'l go THERE during my lunch rather then back to Michaels. They didn't have a very large selection. And, after reading up on the pocketfolds more, I am worried that the completed pocketfold may not fit into the envelopes that we already bought... soo..I may just make a outline type thing..and stick with the 'inner' envleopes. But then I'll def. make the inner envelopes embossed...along with decorating the outer edge that I'll make for the invites.... Did I lose you?? LOL

Engraving the frames..? Wow ..I didn't even think of that. My mom has an engraver thing...it's like writing with a pen. If anything, I can test out on the ones I'm giving to the BP first...haha..That's awesome. Thaniks!!!

Did you buy a blank cardbox to decorate?

I forgot about the unity candle... print it on vellum paper (I think that's what it's called.. it's kind of see through...but looks cloudy - Staples or Craft store should have this) and you could probably hot glue it on - what would happen if that got hot (would it get hot.. you aren't burning the candle all the way down) (see how I think things through in my mind?? Ha ha)? Krazy glue it on?

Re: Dani

Lil Pixie.. did you use a stamp of mickey and minnie? If so was it a custom stamp or one you bought from the store? I ask because I will need to emboss for my invites as well. I am probably going to have blank ones printed by kinkos or someplace then emboss them and use my corner snowflake hole puncher in the corners and emboss some design on the top part. It's going to be a pocketfold invite. The outside is going to be starched silk fabric and a ribbon with a crystal buckle. Haven't bought the materials yet (except the hold puncher) but I plan to do this Feb ish...hopefully!

Yes..>I bought a plain paper mache box...5 tier that I'm going to warp with paper...and then decorate. I'm very eager t start working on that. I should try to finish my other projects as well..but I've just been sorta lazy. LOL. We shall see how I feel when I get home tonight. I will check AC more for the Vellium paper...I am pretty sure that's what it is as well. I'll get the candles and the paper today so at least thats one thing I can work on and be done with lol. I already have the holder. HA I won't be burning the candle all the way down, but I think that hot glue may melt the candle... I will have to play around with it. And, yesterday at Michales I found pruple ribbon that had blue butterflies on it...HOW PERFECT FOR ME!! hahaha

The website is www.diybride.com
The steps that are in the book are not on the site. There are some other things on the site though. There's a pic of the book and some info about it... but I never actually saw any of the projects from the book on there. Either way the book is AWESOME! I don't use the site all the much but I probably should.. I assume there must be good stuff on there.. and I think you can ask questions and make comments and stuff too.

Oh wow.. so you got paper mache... where did you order that from? Is it sturdy enough? Is it specifically meant for card boxes? How much was it? Sorry for so many q's about it.. but I'm highly interested!

Dont forget to browse the embossing and stamping aisles at AC Moore!!!!!

No actually, I searched high and low for the picture online .. I found exactly the one that FH wanted and it was in color so I flipped it to be a watermark so it was in the back of the wording... then after I printed them, I used the embossing tool and hand embossed it. Its going to be a pain in the a$$ to emboss all of them.. you can kind of see it in the pic
