Re: DANI!

It should be on the BHB forum!

Thanks Kerri...I'll take a look for it.
Someone already told me all the things needed...and I'm pretty sure we need either the passport or the birth certificate as the 2nd form of ID. It's OK though.... just as long as we get it soon.

Yea but if you need the birth certificate for the marriage license you can just go get a print out of it from the town on li and then go to get your marriage license with it. They print out the birth certificate right there (or they did at least for me when I went). Then you don't have to wait for both the birth cert and passport to come back to you in the mail. And you can get it all tomorrow.

Also, regardless of what anyone says you need (no offence to anyone) you should really get the info from the place you are going to. Whenever it comes to getting ID documentation there are always different standards depending on where you go, who the clerk is that assists you and what ID you currently have.
When I had to get my passport (I didn't have a license or state ID) I called a bunch of different post offices and got all different answers on what I needed.. and then peole gave me different advice/answers on top of that. One lady told me I needed a witness that was a family member only, another told me I needed a friend who i knew for more than x years, another told me i didn't need any witness... it was insane!
If you haven't already you should get the info from the web site first then call the location you were planning on going to.

Re: DANI!

I actually already called the place where we would be going, and they said I would need the orignal birth certificate...sooo... I am thinking of just waiting it out another week or so, and then if we still didn't get it I will call the same office back and ask if I can get a copy certified or whatever...if they will take that. Thank you so all of your help!

Re: DANI!

The certified copy is what that place would print out. It's not like a photocopy or anything like that.

For me.. my parents divorced when I was very young and my mother left without any of our paperwork... so she had to get the certified copy. Then my grandmother went away with me and took my birth certificate (it's the cert copy my mother got - it's an official birth cert) and she met some woman, they wanted to exchange their personal info and she found 'paper' in her bag and ripped it in half, wrote her contact info, the lady wrote her contact info on the other half and they excahnged it. Turns out it was my birth certificate! ha ha! So that got all messed up. We taped it back together and I used that for a long time.. but through the years it really got crappy looking. So eventually I had to get another certified copy.

It's just something for people who don't have the original BC. So a certified copy from your town (for me it's in NYC) IS considered an original BC it's just not the first one you got from the hospital. they have to take the certified copy, it's just as good as the 1st one you would have received. I've used mine to fly (b4 the passport days) and for everything you would have used the 1st BC for.

Thanks Kerri for all of your help. I will call them tomorrow...find out exactly where I would need to go...like to I need to go to the town he was born...or just ANY town? And, is there any fee? Otherwise I'll wait it out...but I'm hoping we can get it.... I'll let you know what we end up doing. Thanks again for all of your help!

Re: DANI!

I think I might have paid like $5?? whatever it was it really wasn't much at all. I think you can even get more than one.

For the 5 burros you go to NYC. I think for LI you might have to go to the town he was born in.. but I'm not sure bc I'm not from LI.
