Annyone have any positives or negatives about a May wedding versus a July one? Outside cocktail hour. What would you choose?

I would go for may, becasue I am horrible in the heat, and if it is sticky i am extremely horrible.

I would go with July assume they are both the same day of the week. May although is suppose to be warm it could still be cool. Memorial day is always cold. So I would go past that. I would definitely go for the outside cocktail hour. what place are you thinking of?

I would get married in May just because I hate humidity which is more likely in July.

May! July can be too hot with an outdoor cocktail hour. My fi made us stay away from all dates June - August!

Well, traffic heading out east is heavier in July, than May, so you might want to consider that. That didn't stop me from booking a July wedding though. I actually like the heat though, and it was better for us job wise.

I got married on Saturday, May 11th (2002) and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! It was sunny, 72 degrees and beautiful outside. We had an outdoor cocktail hour by the water (at the Sans Souci) and it was very enjoyable. To me, July can be just too hot and brutal. Then again May can be cool as well.
No matter how well you plan something, you can't control the weather. Your choice of a good day versus bad day is 50-50 no matter what date you choose....

Check the Farmers Almanac to see how the weather is 'suppose' to be for both days. And then choose that way.......the Farmers Almanac is usually right!

Laura- you really ARE a glutton for punishment, huh? Its a crap shoot either way...a good friend of mine got married this past October 5th and had her girls in VELVET tops and it turned out to be 80 degrees and sunny!!!

I like May but that's bc of the humidity in July that makes my curly hair so frizzy!!

I am getting married in May. I had a choice of whatever month I wanted and chose May hoping we will have great weather. IMO July may be too hot. I didn't want to take that chance.

I vote for May...I hate to sweat and July can get pretty hot. But on the other hand a summer wedding is so nice too.
My FH and I also chose May b/c it will be fun to go on the HM and sit on the beach when it isnt beach weather yet in NY.

I would always chose May over July (and I did hee hee my date is May 31st) Main reason is the end of July will be HOT !! When it comes down to it, see if you have other birthdays, etc. . in those months that you won't want to clash with and also how you feel about having your anniversary on Mother's day now and again. . .

I would pick May over July - or you might find your bridal party and you and your DH dropping like flies (fainting) from the heat and humidity (esp. the guys in their tuxes.
That is not to say that May might not be very warm either - but the likelihood is that July will be hot and humid. You will also feel better in your dress in cooler weather than getting all decked out and have it be 90 degrees.
