Re: Dates for guests
its funny i was talking to FH about this - i am not doing that if they are above like 25 & in a serious realtionship then absolutely plus 1 but my future brother in law whos 35 is not getting a plus one. I dont want a stranger (or a booty call LOL) at my wedding!

Re: Dates for guests
I completely forgot to add 'and guest' on the invitations that went out to the single ppl in our bridal party. The one thing I'm not worried abt is ppl not knowing ppl because all our friends know each other. But now I'm wondering if those in the bridal party will be pissed that they weren't given a date on the invitation? thoughts?

Re: Dates for guests
I'm not . it was only an issue for one person my MOH and there was just no reason for her to bring a guest. . she isn't dating anyone and would just be a friend so. . . we only invited people in rel with guests. .
eta. . and she really didn't care. . I would have for her of course b/c she's my MOH but she wasnt interested b/c she wanted to be there for me and knew a bunch of people anyway

I don't think they will but you can always ask them if you intended to

Re: Dates for guests
Every bridal party member got invited with a guest, whether they take it or not. Any cousins over 21 in serious relationships got a guest as well--something that I forgot to indicate on the envelopes (since we didn't use inner envelopes due to the pocketfolds)--and we've had a few phone calls clarifying this. Also, any single guest in a serious relationship got a +1 as well.

Re: Dates for guests
Everyone is invited with a guest. Pretty much we are going to know 99.9% of the ppl there...so I am not really worried. Besides...only a few ppl are single...and I don't want to discriminate.... I remember how it was when I didn't get the plus 1.

Re: Dates for guests
well we invited everyone with and guest if they were single but let me say that most of the single people we know came alone. I think only 1 single person brought someone and everyone else came alone, most knew others there. I knew most would do this too bc i know they usually do come alone to events.

Re: Dates for guests
Actually your bridal party is supposed to get guests, but if your way over (like I am) i only gave it to those bridal party members it was necessary for.

I am only inviting people with guests if they are engaged, married or in a serious relationship. It is too $$$ to invite everyone with a +1.

Re: Dates for guests
We were only doing invites with a guest if they had significant others. I spoke to one of my BMs about this because I didn't want her to just FIND someone to bring. I can't stand that Joe Schmo guest that some people will schlep to a wedding because they HAD to find a guest.

I gave everyone a plus one. I hate going places alone so I like to be invited with a guest.

Re: Dates for guests
We are inviting everyone with a guest. I've seen people get hurt feelings when they have been invited to weddings alone so I didn't want to do that.

Re: Dates for guests
The people whose guests I knew (like live-ins), I put their names on the invitations. The people who are single and not with anyone now that they plan to be with in 3 months, I didn't write anything. I've been talking to the friends I see and telling them that if they want to bring someone just to let me know who it is in advance (well in advance).
Oddly, the bridal party is single, or the spouses are away right now (my FSIL's husband is in Afghanistan with the army and unfortunately his leave got pushed from July to September so he won't be there, and my FH's best friend's wife is due 6 weeks after the wedding so his wife won't be there) -- my two best friends are both totally single, but get along with each other so they'll just pair up if need be.

Re: Dates for guests
I invited everyone with a guest. I don't think its my place to decide if some else's relationship is 'serious'. Many of the people we invited with a guest are coming alone anyway but I wanted them to make that decision not me.

Re: Dates for guests
I only invited people in serious relationships with a guest. Only people in the bridal party in relationships were invited with guests as well. I can't afford to pay for people I don't know. I have a feeling my guests will bring someone I don't know and I don't want that.

Re: Dates for guests
We're doing pretty much everyone +1 and just hoping that MOST of our friends who would just bring a random person won't.

We gave everyone a +1. Any of our younger cousins that are in a serious relationship were invited with a guest.
