We are having a small BP. All of the GM are married and my FSIL is too. My 2 sisters are not. One has been in the same relationship for 15 years, the other doesn't have a BF at the moment. However, they will be invited with guests.
Basically all of our guests are being invited with dates. Most are in relationships, but for the few singles who aren't, they can choose whether or not to bring somone. I know when I would get invited to weddings unless I was dating someone seriously, I would go alone.

Re: Dates for guests
Everyone in the bridal party gets a plus one, regardless of their relationship status. For our regular guests, those in serious relationships get a plus one. The only exception (and there are only like two) is if we are inviting someone who knows no one else at the wedding ... then they get a plus one as well, because who wants to sit at a wedding and not talk to anyone because they don't know anyone?

I only invited people in serious relationships with a guest. Only people in the bridal party in relationships were invited with guests as well. I can't afford to pay for people I don't know. I have a feeling my guests will bring someone I don't know and I don't want that.
ITA!!!! Ive been telling my brothers and sister this and they just dont understand! Honestly why should I pay for your booty call to come and have some dinner??? Whenever my brother is invited to a wedding, he just randomly brings some girl and I just dont want that! Plus my guest list is tight as it is.

I gave everyone a plus one. I hate going places alone so I like to be invited with a guest.
I totally agree. It's different if they were sixteen years old but I think adults deserve to be invited with a guest, regardless of their relationship status.

Re: Dates for guests
I think it also depends on how large your wedding is. We are having a VERY small wedding - 80 people TOPS and we have a bunch of 'singles ' already coming (they CHOSE to leave their significant others at home so that we would be able to have them). So in our situation, any extra guest, if not necessary, is keeping us from being able to invite people we want.

Re: Dates for guests
Everyone in our BP is invited with a guest.
Our + 1 rule is basically guests with long term partners. Otherwise singles can't bring guests. This may likely lead to several awkward conversations once the invites go out but we cant afford to pay for random 'dates'

Everyone in the bridal party is being invited with a date, regardless of whether they're in a serious relationship.
For guests, though, I've had to limit it to keep the numbers under control. If the person is not in a relationship, but lives locally and will know other people there, I'm not inviting with a guest.

Re: Dates for guests
We actually gave every guest a plus one, but 97% of our guests are OOT with about 80% being from out of state, so we weren't too worried about many of them actually brining anyone unless they were married. So far, it's worked out

Every bridal party member got invited with a guest, whether they take it or not. Any cousins over 21 in serious relationships got a guest as well--something that I forgot to indicate on the envelopes (since we didn't use inner envelopes due to the pocketfolds)--and we've had a few phone calls clarifying this. Also, any single guest in a serious relationship got a +1 as well.
Same here! Plus older people. I know they wont bring a guest but its just proper to invite plus guest.
