David's Bridal
Some of you LIWeddings ladies have said David's is a good place to go for ideas when you start dress shopping. So here's my question, do you need an appointment at David's or can you just go try stuff on?I'm so excited to shop for dresses! My Mom and I are planning to go next week!

Re: David's Bridal
No appt needed. You can just walk in but you may want to go early before they get crazy busy. I bought my dress there and loved it.

Re: David's Bridal
Davids is great...So is RK bridal to get ideas. You don''t need an appointment there and they leave you alone. I went alone and sat there doing sketches and writing a lot of stuff down- style types, style numbers, color differences, different materials and everyone left me alone. It wasn't pushy. Also, try netbride.com if on-line. It's great!

Re: David's Bridal
It can be very overwhelming when you shop at David's because the gowns are all hung up on the racks like clothes in our closet so you can't tell what each dress really looks like. It was easier for me because I saw the dress I really liked in a magazine and wrote down the number so all I had to do was look on the tags for the match.

Re: David's Bridal
My suggestion is if you live close you could go to Davids Bridal and get their catalog to take home and really look through it and when you go back, bring the catalog and most likely they can pull each dress right off the rack for you, but you definately gets lots of ideas from Davids!

Re: David's Bridal
I have 2 suggestions: (1) go during the week if possible. I went twice on Wed and there was about 3 people there. I went once Sat and it was PACKED and once Sunday and it was petty bad. IMO I think Sunday was better than Sat if you MUST go on the weekend. (2) Davids is a bit overwhelming b/c everything is hung up on racks and you can't tell what they look like. Keep going back and grabbing a few and try as many as you can stand (I did this and ended up buying the first one I tried on). This way you will get an ides of what you like and definately don't like. Don't expect the people at Davids to fall all over you b/c they probably won't but you have the freedom to try on a lot at your own pace.Good Luck!!

Re: David's Bridal
Thanks everyone! I'm going to go next Monday with my mom. Hopefully, it won't be crowded. I'm not really planning to buy anything just yet. I just really want to get some ideas of what I like, but you never know, I could find the one!

Re: David's Bridal
You have to buy off the rack there though right?? They don't do alterations either?? One more question--can they or will they order a dress in a different size for you if you see one you like? I have never actually been to a DAVIDS BRIDAL--just heard a lot about it!

Re: David's Bridal
Yes, Davids is off the rack. They do alterations but I hear they are expensive. They will order the dress for you if you need a size that they don't have or they can'f ix something that is wrong with the dress that they do have. I tried on the size 4 but it was a bit big (they would have had to alter the dress0 so they ordered it in a size 2 (with no problem). I am not positive if it is new or not (they said 2 often is) but I looked at it and found nothing wrong with it.

Re: David's Bridal
I am tall, 5'10' and they had to order me a brand new dress with extra length. So for me, my dress is brand new

Re: David's Bridal
A friend of mine had her alterations done at David's and she did not have a good experience. If I bought a dress there I would take it somewhere else for alterations.

Re: David's Bridal
I am confused on the 'off the rack' term. Do you literally buy the gown that is sitting on the rack and that you and 100+ brides have tried on or they order one for you and you have to get the alterations done elsewhere?Welcome New Vendors
