David's Bridal..
Okay.. i just really felt the need to post this. 1st off.. If LIW endorses this bridal salon (Westbury) I think you really need to check into this vendor because I just had a really BAD
experience with them .
2nd.. For any brides that purchased their dresses/bridesmaid dresses there, you must have ALOT of patience because you need it there.
So...heres the story. I had to go to the Davids bridal salon in Westbury today for a bridesmaid dress fitting (Im in my brothers wedding next June). When I walked in, there were racks & racks of dresses.. It kind of reminded me of the way Marshalls is.. I told the girl at the front desk (who looked like she was pissed off because she had to end her phone call) that I was there for a bridal fitting. She looked up the style number and called an associate to come help me---okay fine.
Once the associate finally arrived (after waiting 16 min.. ) she directed me to a fitting room. She told me to wait momentarily while she finds the dress. After waiting another 10 minutes.. she finally shows up with the dress (5 sizes too big, no less) and told me to try it on. By the time I got the dress on and walked out of the dressing room.. the saleslady was .... gone. AGAIN. I needed her to take my measurements because I was standing there trying to hold the dress up with one hand, and the bottom of the dress with the other because it was dragging and I would have fell flat on my face. My saleslady kept disappearing on me!!! So I waited for her... and waited. Finally I pulled another sales associate to the side and told asked her where my saleslady was because I needed to get measured. Apparently the person I pulled to the side was a manager who then told me that the reason why she kept disappearing was because each salesperson helps several brides/bridesmaids at the same time so there was no personal attention for anyone and I would just have to wait. Could you believe this??? Okay fine. Whatever.. I waited for my saleslady another 10 minutes. I had no choice at this point, She finally showed up another 15 min later and asked me how the dress fit. It was SO OBVIOUS that this dress was falling off of me, so she suggested that I order a size 12 (She handed me an 18) because its easier to take the dress in, then to take it out.
This made no sense because shes giving me this advice WITHOUT even taking my measurements. So, I will take the knowledge that I learned today and pass it on to you:
#1 Davids Bridals DO NOT take your measurements. You simply try a dress on (Thats close to your size) and thats what you order.
#2. Once the dress comes in, you must pick it up.. THEN make an appointment for alterations and then bring it back to the store to get it altered for you.
#3 DO NOT expect personal attention. There are about 20 brides trying on dresses at the same time with about a total of 5 sales associates assisting them.
#4 Prepared to be there for a while because just to order my bridesmaids dress, I was in there for about an hour & 45 min.
The whole experience there was horrible for me. Im so happy I didn't purchase my dress from there because I compared the service there to the service I received in Bridal Reflections and concluded that there is absolutely NO COMPARISON.
The moral of my story: You get what you pay for and sometimes even though you pay extra money in a smaller boutique, the personalized service you get is something every bride should experience and DESERVE. Davids Bridal was a madhouse.
They DO however have a large selection of dresses. I hope noone take offense to this review.. its only my observation today. Lots of luck and just be prepared of you plan to shop at Davids bridal for your gown, and your bridesmaids dresses.
