Has anyone had any expierances with David Bridal? I was gonna go to the one in Lake Grove and I just heard that you need an appointment to go and they won't let you try on dresses unless you have a bridal consulant. No private dressing rooms!! I don't need a consulant. I just want to try on dresses.
Does anyone have ideas on where to try?

Re: Davids Bridal
I walked in, made an appt on the spot with one of their ppl, and tried on lots of dresses. You can sift through dresses as you wait. It's a great place to start & see what you like on yourself.
I went to the one in the Fortunoff mall.

Hi! I tried to find my previous post about my great experience at David's Bridal at 3500 48th Street/Northern Blvd in Queens, but I can't locate it on here. So I've pasted my review below from what I saved on my own computer. Another LIW'er was raving about her bridal consultant Carol at this same location, and I added to her rave review. On my first visit, I walked in without an appointment and had an amazing experience.
Here's what I wrote:
>I second that!! I also went to that same David's location and highly recommend Tracy L. and Carol too. Tracy helped me on my first dress shopping trip back in July. She pulled 3 dresses based on my preference for lace, and the 3rd was THE ONE!! I went to 2 other stores to try on other dresses for comparison, but kept dreaming of the lace on MY dress! So I went back to David's.
Although I called and was told that Tracy would be there on the day I was coming in to order, she wasn't. Carol was there instead, and was very helpful too. They even put the order under Tracy's name for the commission for helping me. And when I went to pick up my dress at the beginning of December, Tracy was there again. She remembered exactly who I am, and it was a pleasure to work with her!!! She was such a sweetheart! The poor girl was sick that day, but was extremely helpful and cheerful even through her sniffles! It was like catching up with an old friend from college, rather than the typical salesgirl-customer relationship.
If you liked any of the David's dresses and want an excellent experience, I'd definitely recommend requesting an appointment with Tracy.

Re: Davids Bridal
I went to the David's in the Source on a weekend and didn't need an appointment for my dress or for BM dresses. Other stores might not let you, though.
I found the consultant really helpful--trust me, you aren't getting on those dresses yourself, plus they can clip them so they aren't falling off you if they're the wrong size.

I went to Davids Bridal at the Fortunoff Mall and also at Lake Grove. I didn't have an apptmt at either one, and they were very helpful. I tried on tons of dresses and took lots of pictures. It's great because they have every size in stock. I have to say that the one at Fortunoff is a lot busier than the one in Lake Grove. Good luck and have fun.

It might have been me. I went to the queens location and it was awesome. Carol was my bridal assistant and she was so patient with me. She was so good at her craft that she new my exact size in everything by just looking at me and was great. She took pictures for me and even offered professional advice with accessorizing for the day and the perfect BM dresses for my girls. Although we did not get our BM dresses there I did end up ordering my F dresses from her and I ordered the second gown that I had tried on. I looooovvveeee my dress and the service was great. I highly recommend them and if you can, see if you can get CAROL although I believe all the attendants are great there. Also, Carol's memory is great...every time I go there, she remembers me and is always quick to help me out even if I don't have an appointment.

Re: Davids Bridal
The only thing is...if you find a dress you like, write down the exact style and #. I thought I was going to able to find it a week later & I couldn't...and they lost the style # on the computer.

Re: Davids Bridal
I got my gown from the David's Bridal in Westbury. I bought my gown as a sample and that was it. My experience was fine and I love my gown. I will not go there for alterations though.

That was not my experience at all. They have several rooms which are numbered and they will tell you which room is available for use. Privacy is not an issue at all.

YES!!! It was you!!! I'm still learning to use the boards and can only find my last 10 previous posts, so I couldn't locate the link to your review. I had the same experience as you did with your assistant, in terms of her knowing my size too! I credit her for finding MY dress!! All I said was, 'I LOVE lace,' and she picked the PERFECT dress, my dream dress!! And when I went back, she remembered me too.
I have to admit I was worried about customer service because of the poor way some LIW brides were treated at several David's stores. (If you do a search for David's Bridal, those reviews should come up). But on the day I went to look at dresses, that's all I was doing was looking, no money in pocket, no intention to buy that day. And with Tracy (and then Carol), I definitely had a great experience at David's!

You probably won't find ANY bridal place with no consultant....trust me, they are helpful! I was iffy about it at first too, but every salon I went to (not davids) I had a consultant and they are very helpful--they help you see which pieces of the dress are flattering on you, and pull new dresses based on that--they are great!

Youre out of luck.. Every bridal place, you will need a consultant (just about every one).... And NOOOOO the rooms are not out in the open... You have a regular changing room with a door so no one can see you get dressed.. Then with the dress on you go out and look in the mirror and your consultant will fix the gown for you and get you a veil, etc....

Don't worry, you'll get a private room, it's very small but we were able to fit 2 ppl in there, me and FMIL. There was a lady who helped me but I would not call her a consultant. She basically gets the dress I like in my size and was running back and forth. She was so busy, I hardly even see her.
