How many of you gals bought your dress threre? How long before it came in? I have an appt. there tomorrow, and I was just trying to prepare myself. I hear it can get crazy in there. ...

I didn't personally get my gown from there but my friend did- she got it in less than 3 weeks- it depends if they have to order it or have it in stock.

I heard though that it does come fast! Also I heard (and ladies please correct me if I am wrong) that once it comes in they make you get altrerations right away and take the gown home... so if you are getting it from there make sure you have somewhere to store the gown.

See...that's the only thing that scares me. I am in the process of losing weight, and I don't want it altered too early....yikes....what to do?

Don't they take that into consideration when you are getting the dress altered? My understanding is that you go back for a fitting right before the wedding, just in case you lose weight?

Unless I'm wrong, I thought that was the way it worked.

I thought so too.....

I think it's just crazy that you gotta keep bringing it back and forth for fittings and such.

You mean they wont even hold it for you while they are doing the alterations?

I'm so glad I'm not getting my alterations done there. I can give you the name of my seamstress if you want, but she is in Queens. I'm sure someone could recommend one closer to you.....

They keep it when they actually do the alterations but once it is done it's all on you..

also I can't believe that they CHARGE $10.00 for a gown/garment bag! Other bridal salons give that to you...
I know that the alterations cap at David's but not sure of the price, etc.

Re: David's Bridal....

I also got my dress from David's, the one on Northern Blvd in Queens. Excellent customer service too!! I tried on dresses in July, fell in love with one, went to other bridal salons to try on other dresses, and kept coming back to the David's dress. I ordered my dress in November, picked it up the first week of December, and have it hanging in one of their bags (for $10) in my closet. When you order your gown, tell them your wedding date and ask about when to come back for alterations. My wedding is in the beginning of November, and I was advised to have my first fitting in July. I'm still not sure if I'm having David's alter it though, but the July fitting date gives me a guideline to go by.

As for weekend appointments, if possible, schedule a morning appt, the earlier the better. I went w/ my sisters a few wks ago to order their MOH gowns. Our appt was for 12 noon, and we were in and out without a problem. There were only a few other brides there at that time. By the time we were leaving around 1pm, the place was absolute madness!!!! Every dressing room was taken, every pedestal had a bride in a dress on it, the staff was super busy, and the line at the register was VERY long! It also helps if you have a scheduled appointment, rather than just walking in. I was told by my consultant Tracy that they must take those with appointments first, and only after that, will they take walk-ins.

Good luck dress shopping, and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS..... Bring a digital camera or your camera phone w/ you!! They will let you take pics!! Tracy even took some for me!!
