Few quesitons; 1- What is your experience with them? 2- I don't have an appointment anywhere, but was thinking of walking into Davids Bridal tomorrow, good idea or bad idea? Not sure if I need an appointment. 3- Any other cheaper place to go? Was looking to spend less than $1,000. Not really looking for a gown, more of a very nice summer type dress. Something nice, but light. TIA!

1- What is your experience with them? Each DB is different. From my experience the best one I've been to was the Yonkers location (but I have never been to any on the Island). I think I heard the one in Massapequa is good.
2- I don't have an appointment anywhere, but was thinking of walking into Davids Bridal tomorrow, good idea or bad idea? Not sure if I need an appointment. You do not need an appointment at all for DB. You walk in, go to the lady at the desk, they'll have you fill out some paperwork and then you walk around the store finding dresses you want to try on. They usually let you try on as many as you like.
3- Any other cheaper place to go? Was looking to spend less than $1,000. Not really looking for a gown, more of a very nice summer type dress. Something nice, but light. You will definitely find something at DB for less than $1000, especially if you are looking for something beachy and light because there is not as much material.
check out their website. They usually have the prices listed and you can bring the pics into the store with you to see if they have any of the samples (they usually have most I feel).
Good Luck!

Great!! I went to the one in Massapequa and Rosa helped me... she was so much fun!!! I got my dress there - it was a gown and it was 350$

I was told you don't NEED an appt but they strongly encourage it mainly on the weekend because they get so busy and want to give you the right attention.
Good Luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!

Eh I'm not a fan of db for anything from wedding gowns to bm dresses. I got my gown at lilletes for 950 but don't forget to figure in alterations. The alteration dept @ db are not the best.

Go to paradise or fantasia and look at maggie sottero destination dresses. Wayyyyy less than 1000 ans alterations are capped at no more than $300 at both places.
Btw go to maggiesottero.com to check out their dresses.

I agree about the alterations dept......I got a BM dress there for my friends wedding and they hemmed my dress uneven where it was unfixable and then they wanted me to pay for a new skirt(we wore separates) when they messed up. My friend(the bride) got into an argument about that saying im not paying for a new skirt since they messed up.
I had a horrible experinece at DB and I will never go there for myself.

Re: David's Bridal
i am getting my dress at DB. I walked into the Westbury location on a Sat morning and it wasn't too busy (thank god, because when its busy you have to wait a while). I was able to get good service and tried on about 6 dresses. The lady who helped me also brought me long bras to try on w/ the dress and the poofy thing that goes underneath the skirt as well...
i loved 1 dress so much that i ended up buying it and it was WAY under the budget I expected to spend. So far, I am very happy w/ them. I only plan to wear my dress once so I really didn't want to fork over 2000 or $3000 for a dress. It came to under $1000 and that included the poofy thing and the bra.
I am having alterations done by my mom who knows how to sew, so I cant comment on the DB alterations dep't.
(sorry for any typos, i usually post from my blackberry)..

I would not just walk in there on sat unless you go as soon as they open. They are pretty busy on the weekends and you may have to wait a while before someone can help you and you may also feel rushed. My experience with the one in westbury wasnt the best but that may be because i went in the middle of a sunday without an appt. I am considering getting a 2nd dress and if i do it will be from there.

Re: David's Bridal
There are places other than dB that have cheaper dresses. alfred Angelo dresses are at bridal salons and are mostly inexpensive. if u want a simple dress even try jcrew bridal.

Re: David's Bridal
Honestly, I have had nothing but a good experience with DB so far. I have been going to the one in Lake Grove. If you are looking for UNDIVIDED attention, perhaps making an appointment would be helpful, because on the weekends they are very busy and the consultants work with several girls at once. I can't speak for alterations yet, because I havn't gotten that far, but I feel like it is definetly worth a trip. I found a beautiful dress for a great price and had a good time shopping with my mom. On the other hand, don't limit yourself...there are other great places out there with reasonable prices and I'm sure alot of the girls will give you some suggestions
