im sooo disappointed with Davids Bridal. I walked in the other day just to check it out and decided i wanted to try on dresses. I didnt have an apt but the receptionist said no problem someone should be with you in a few minutes. I was also by myself so this probably didnt help.
I waited about 15 (didnt mind bc i knew i didnt have the apt) I took that time to look through the dresses, and to be honest i didnt find a lot that i was crazy about when the lady met w me, i told her I dont want bright white or lace, and I want sparkle and anqitue white and a long flowly skirt...
the first dress i tried on was the Vera dress w a big flowly skirt. i hated it. i thought it would love it but it did nothing for me. She goes I have the perfect dress for you... she comes back w a WHITE LACE mermaid dress. i tried it on to be nice, and when i came out of the dressing room she was w another bride. she looked at me and said oh thats nice. I said i didnt like it and wanted to try on something else. she stayed w that bride. i was standing there for about 5 minutes in the ugly dress waiting for her to pull another one for me. Finally i go change and when i come out i said maybe i should wait for my mom, she said Yeah good idea have a great day.. and basically pushed me out the door.
I mean i know your busy and all but whats the point of taking an apt if you dont take the time to spend with them. SORRY DB but you just lost my business....

Re: Davids Bridal
I had a completely opposite experience at DB (in Massapequa). I went on a Saturday afternoon, no appointment and was taken to a dressing room with a consultant within 5 minutes and we talked about what I was looking for. She tried her hardest to understand/find what I was looking for. The last dress I tried on was the one I bought, so that worked out. I think that the girl who helped me was new. She wasn't SUPER friendly, but she definitely stayed with me the whole time, never left and helped me in and out of the dresses and was determined to help me find what I was looking for. When I tried on the dress that I eventually bought--a bunch of sales people came over to check me out haha. I definitely didn't feel 'slighted' at all!
The only thing I was disappointed in, PRE paying we were under the impression that the alterations dept. would be able to do the alterations for my dress (I needed it shortened) and AFTER we paid we were told it was too much fabric for them to do it, so they would not be able to. Um?? ok haha.... thankfully I have a family friend who has a side business of doing alterations & has done my friend's wedding dress, so I trust her!

Re: Davids Bridal
Maybe I am in the minority here but I have had the exact opposite experience at David's Bridal (Massapequa location).
It has been a pleasure dealing with this store. I went there on a whim, my MIL basically just wanted to see me try on some dresses after her son and I had just gotten engaged. I did not go there with the intentions of purchasing my wedding dress from them. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. I was helped without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon by the manager of the store, Dishawn. Yes they were busy but he was very helpful and gave me many styles to try on and was completely honest with his opinion of what looked good and what didn't.
Not only did I purchase my dress through them, but I also purchased my flower girl dresses from them and chose my bridesmaids dresses through DB.
I can't speak for the other locations but every single time I have been to this store they remember me by name and ask me how well everything is going with the wedding planning.

funny thing is that i went to princess bridal in farmingdale and i loved the attention i got... now the lady wont stop calling me!
guhhhhh why does it have to be one extreme or the other!
How is Princess Bridal? I live around the corner. The place always looks so empty and their windows aren't very appealing. Should I give them a shot?

Re: Davids Bridal
I am so sorry you girls had such poor experiences! On the contrary, DB in massapequa has been the BEST bridal I went to. I only went to 2 as a bride, but as BM, I went to at least 3 others and vowed NOT to use those LI salons for my wedding bc the service was awful. DB in massapequa was a great experience for my mom and I. I came in with a list of over 40 dresses and they were great with me. I went back like 5 times after I bought my dress just to see accessories or show my BMs. Every consultant was SOOO nice, every time and they remembered me. The only problem we had, was when I ordered the dress my consultant tiold me how it would be altered (from the waist pulled up, so I wouldnt lose lace detailing on bottom) When the dress came in the alterations guy told me it would be cut at the bottom, which really upset my mom. But it was confirmed we can do it the way we want!! My consultant was even great with my mom when she came in without me and when she went recently for her MOG dress.
Sidenote-most appts made for me were weeknights. I was never in there for less than 2 hours, but i had personalized attention due to lower amount of customers than a weekend

its a very small space, but so far its the only place that the sales lady listened to what i wanted and they actually have a beautiful selection of dresses. The place is a little skank but i didnt mind. my thing though is that they call me and when i return a call they have no idea who i am.. I would def look there though but there are sooooooooo many horror stories about girls once they have put a deposit down.

I too had an AMAZING experience with DB last year when I bought my original dress (lake grove location) and also this year when I bought a $99 for our group TTD (massapequa) I literally was treated like royalty both times! But I did have an appointment and I went in with a list of dresses from their website that I liked and a price point. It def is not a boutique but they made me feel important (TWICE)

Re: Davids Bridal
I had a negative experience at DB, but I wasn't expecting much. Princess Bridal is very good, but it is hit or miss with the consultants. If you get a good one it makes all the difference. It certainly is not a high end store, but they try hard to please the brides.

I'm sorry you a negative experience. Would you consider complaining to the store or corporate headquarters? I've always found people were responsive to my concerns.

Re: Davids Bridal
If I need something from David's bridal, I go in, find it myself, and get my own dressing room. I can't wait for attendants to help me. I tried that once and was left in a dressing room waiting for another size.

Sounds like the thing to do there I did the same the other day. I went in on a Saturday, and it was pretty busy. I had wanted to try on the one shouldered, poofy Vera Wang bridesmaid dress after I fell in love with it online. I was thinking of wearing the white version to my Rehearsal. Sadly, the fit was super awkward on me because I have a very short torso and long legs, so the one shoulder had about a 2-3 inch gap and made it look baggy in the chest as a result.
