I just got off the phone with the seamstress at the LIC store. She said that I have to pay up front for the alterations at the first appointment. She said there is no alterations price cap. But couldn't tell me how much to bring (plan on paying cash). Very confusing. I gave her dress style number, and she didn't know what I was talking about.
I think I'll check out a tailor I got from someone on here in Ridgewood instead. I think the alterations done at DB will be just as much as the freaking gown!
I don't like not getting quotes.

It's true alterations are so annoying there. I paid $60 to get an INCH taken off a BM dress for a wedding I was in

I worked at Davids a few years ago and I advise against getting alterations done there...from what I remember a hem is 120, a bustle ranges from 30 to 65 depending on style, adding cups is 15 and I think taking in is 60...but I don't remember for sure. I think you are better off quality and price wise taking your dress elsewhere! At the davids I used to work at the seamstress actually took the dresses home to continue working on them! (She no longer works at the Davids I worked at)

Yeah, I'm cancelling my appointment. My boss said to take it to a dry cleaners that does wedding alterations. Would that be doable?
I can't really listen to her because she had an original Vera Wang and the dress was custom made for her... rich *****. LOL
