DaVinci Code thread

Just saw the teaser they have been showing in the theaters. They havent even shot one scene yet but it got me all aflutter!

Any other fans out there (or even naysayers) want to discuss the book or movie???

Actors cast so far are Tom Hanks, Audrey Tatou, Ian McKellen, Paul Bettany, Alfred Molina, and Jean Reno

Im still not convinced with Tom Hanks...wouldve liked someone sexier but older.
Im very suprised by Paul Bettany as Silas the monk!

Any thoughts?

Jenn, I was disappointed by them casting Tom Hanks too. Great actor, but not suited to this role....Langdon is supposed to be sexy, not cute.

Paul Bettany could be good, I like him!

I kept on thinking of Harrison Ford for Langdon even though he may be older than the character. Tom Hanks isa good actor but I did not envision him for this role.

Me too! I was disappointed with Tom Hanks also. Just watched the Terminal with him and that character suits him better than Langdon.

Has anyone watched some of the 'Breaking the Davinci Code' specials? Opinions?

I don't care how closed it is based on fact or not, I just loved the book.

I love him too!!!! But I'm not sure he's right for the role either I was thinking maybe Richard Gere, but I wonder if he's too old? Same with Harrison Ford...he's just a little too old. There doesn't seem to be anyone in the right age group...

Richard Gere would have been perfect if he was 15 years younger.

I think that Tom Hanks will be great...true he is more cute than sexy....but he does have a magical way of transforming himself into a character.
I can't wait for this movie to come out. I read the book in 2 days....and it only took that long because I kept stopping to look up paintings and history on the internet.

It's been a while since I read the book - how old is Langdon supposed to be? 40's? 50's? I dont think Tom Hanks is the right one to play him, though Audrey Tatou is good - and Paul Bettany is an interesting choice for Silas.

Are they going to get permission to film in the Louvre?

I'm pretty sure they already have. I think Langdon is supposed to be mid-40's

I also envisioned Harrison Ford, but that brings it too much toward the Indiana Jones character, so I can see why they did not cast him. I def think Tom Hanks is not a good chioce though

Oh Im so happy there are more Davinci code fans out there

Im the same way- it doesnt have to be true but I loved that moment when I read about Mary in the Last Supper and went 'WOAH- WHAT??!!

I bought the illustrated edition for FH for x-mas but so far Ive been the only one to read it. Its awesome to see the pictures, paintings and places from the book.

fantasy cast link

Link goes to a blog with a list of fantasy cast members.

I think I like George Clooney for his age and attractiveness but still not a prime choice for Langdon

Yeah- George would seem to fit,but I don't think he is a good enough actor. too bad.

I was thinking of someone more like Sam Shepard. I think he might be a little long in the tooth, but he would have been wonderful.

I must be missing something.

I don't remember Langdon's character as being SEXY. I just finished the book last week, so it's fresh in my head.

Did I miss something?

i completely agree. My mom thinks someone of the Hugh Grant genre would've been more fitting.
