Loved the book! I dont have high expectations of the movie as books are always better than movies...I am going to see it though.

I don't waste my time on what critics have to say, however the New York Times I heard gave it four stars. I'm going to see it in 3 hours!!!

I agree. if I listed to critics I'd miss out on some very good movies. Their opinions on movies/books/plays/resturaunts dont have much weight with me.
Anyone recall critics panning Gladiator! That was a good movie and the soundtrack was good as well. It went on to win an award.

Re: DaVinci's Code
Well, I thought it was pretty good. Changed a lot from the book, but not all for the worst. Some jump out of you seat shocks, some laughs, a little slow at parts, but I think if you really liked the book and the story as a whole, you'll like the movie. The ending made many people cry, if was touching. 2 and half hours is a little long, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Seeing with people who haven't read the book and know nothing, is kinda fun and annoying. They jump and gasp and go 'OMG' at everything, because they no idea what happens next.. It's fun watching them put the puzzle together.
For those that have read the book, there are a few surprises for you as well, so it's not completely spoiled. It's the same story, just told a bit differently. We also get to see scences that were not in the book, but implied.
Overall I give it a B+, but don't go after a long day and don't take the kids. It may be PG-13, but one man bought his 6 or 7 year old son and at one part the boy got so worked up he starting crying and his father had to leave.

Re: DaVinci's Code
I had read the book and I thought the movie was good; not excellent, but not bad either.
They did show a preview for a world trade center movie about the poilice officers who went in to save people and a lot of people in the theater started crying (including me). And that was just the preview. I couldn't imagine seeing that movie.

Re: DaVinci's Code
We saw it Saturday cause we were bored and had nothing else to do....it was by far not the worst movie I had ever seen, it wasn't the best.....but not a waste of time. I likened it to a better version of National Treasure...FH made me watch that. I also didn't see what all the hype and controversey was over....other movies go so far as to denounce religion all together...this one merely attempts to re-write history and some fundamental principles. The hype is really why we saw it....and in that regard, we were let down...it isn't nearly as 'horrific' as some groups are making it out to be. If you are at all interested in seeing it, then go see it....but yes, be prepared for that awful preview of world trade center....that shouldn't have been made, that just seems awful....and painful.

OMG they showed that preview in NY? I am in Los Angeles and I was sure that they wouldn't show that in NY. It was so painful to watch.

I was so angry about it, I didn't even know there was another movie about 9/11 coming out. I couldn't stop crying and almost walked out of the movie altogether. I'm extreamly sensitive about anything 9/11 related.
without wanting to start a debate.... I think it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too soon to be making movies like this. 9/11 is like yesterday in my mind.

i was crying over the preview and (not to sound coldhearted...but i was in a different part of the country at the time) but i stopped crying over that day a long time ago....yes, NY is the last place I would've thought to see that preview! eta---i agree, it's way too soon to make a movie about it...people seemed ok in our theatre....but i was bawling. there were notices up all over the theatre we went to warning anyone seeing davinci that they might see a preview for this movie. i wasn't prepared for what it really was though.
