Day After Brunch?

Day After Brunch?

Are you having one? Do you think it's necessary?

If you are having one, is it just for your OOT guests, or all of them?

we are doing one - it will be at my parents house - we are going to invite OOT, close family, and close friends - cut the list a bit but my wedding is very big

We did not do one.

I have been in weddings that did, and honestly it was just too much. (so this is from my perspective)

We had the Rehersal the night before then the wedding then the brunch the day after... it made the wedding an entire weekend extravaganza. And being in the bridal party... we were obligated to go and it was just too much for us. Honestly we just wanted to get home.
Plus IMHO it's just too much pressure to put on another event. Someone has to cook/coordinate catering on the morning after such a long tiring day before. I'd rather be relaxing in bed with my new DH then running to a family function

Yeah, I feel about the same. I didn't really plan on seeing anyone else once the wedding was over. We thought we'd 'sleep in' (wedding doesn't end til after midnight) then head out for our honeymoon.

We're not doing one. First off, it's an extra expense that's not really necessary in my opinion and second, our reception doesn't end until 1AM and I'll probably really need the sleep the next morning.

actually the two brunches that we went to the bride and groom did not attend -they had early flights for their honeymoon

I have a lot of OOT friends and want o spend time with them- i also live OOT so i want to spend more time with my family

We are doing it as an open house -totally catered - so people can stop by for as long as they want

We're having a brunch the day after for a couple of reasons. One is that I have a lot of OOT guests coming, and I'm looking forward to spending some time relaxing and hanging out with them. Another is that the day after is Father's Day. I thought it would be a nice way to celebrate.

We are not going to do one. We really do not have a lot of oot guests. If we did we would prob consider it.

We are having one the morning after at the hotel. We have a decent amount of OOT guests and plus we are not having a rehearsal dinner. So the brunch will give us an opportunity to spend more time with people that we didn't really get to at the wedding.

We are doing one - everyone is from OOT, so they have all paid to spend the weekend there and are looking forward to as many activities as possible! We will all want to eat and re-hash the wedding I'm sure. I'm really looking forward to this...

We are doing one...at my parents house, open to anyone...im having an afternoon wedding on Sat, so i think lots of people will be leaving Sat night, so whoever is still around is deffinately welcome!

We're more then likely not going to be having one.. our wedding is on a sunday afternoon. the whole thing ends at 5 so for our case it would be silly to have a brunch the next day. However we will be having people back to my FIL's house for an 'afterparty'

My sisters wedding is on a saturday night so she is having a day after brunch the next day at my parents bed and breakfast. open for anyone who stayed the night and would like some more free food.

We had one at the hotel where we stayed the next morning. It was a buffet brunch that came with the price of booking the room. We invited close family and friends and out of town guests. NOT everyone!

Re: Day After Brunch?

When I'm an out-of-towner, I definitely appreciate having meals/events on Friday night and/or Sunday, in addition to the wedding - since it's a big expense to get to someone's wedding for the weekend. But it is by no means necessary for you to do.

We're doing one; it will be at the hotel our guests are using, and all who are staying there (or will be nearby) will be invited.

ETA: I agree that trying to do it yourself or have parents take care of it (i.e. cook, host) will be an extra source of stress you can do without. Probably much easier on everyone to have it out somewhere or at the hotel, if they do that sort of thing (in hotel restaurant or meeting room).

We are thinking about it, but not at the hotel where the reception is. They are killing me with their prices. ($17 pp for brunch! )

I guess my situation is different, because ALL of us will be away (upstate wedding), so I would like to see and hear everyone's reactions.

There is a local B&B near my family's house so we will probably have it there.

curliegirl...17 bucks actually doesn't sound too bad to me for brunch (esp. at the Sagamore?), but for all I know they're just talking about donuts and coffee . Does the Algonquin do brunch? That might be a good option if the B&B doesn't work out.

I would if we could but we want to leave for our honeymoon that day. Depending on the size of your families, you may want to include just the OOT guests if family is too large.

We like the idea of a day after brunch also. But we aren't goin to have everyone and their mother's coming, we would like the parents and brothers and sisters.

We are doing one, in the hotel for the OOT guests (mainly all of our friends since we live in VA and FI's family)....just having the invites in the bags we leave for the guests, although it's really open to anyone. Kind of informal. My mom wanted to do it sooo I didn't complain!

Yes, We are having a morning after brunch at Danfords in Port Jefferson. It's also Fathers day so I thought it would be nice for immediate family and OOT guests.
