Day After Plans?

I was talking to FH about how the day after our wedding is going to be. We haven't figured out when we'll leave for the HM. I'm just curious to see what you girls did / plan to do...

-When did / will you open your cards and gifts? Before or after the HM?

-What did you / will you do the day after? See family or catch a flight?

the night of our wedding we stayed at a hotel in the city. The next day we slept in, but when we woke up wanted to go get something to eat but dh forgot to pack sneakers in his overnight bag so i had to go to footlocker which was just a few blocks away to get him sneakers. But the whole avenue by our hotel and in front of our hotel they were having this street fair but a food fair so i bought food from downstairs for us. Then we ate lunch in our hotel room, rented a movie just lounging in bed. Dh said he wanted to go to Houstons for dinner, his friend ended up calling and he drove to the city with his gf and all four of us went out to dinner and had drinks, it was real nice. Then later on that night went back to our room and watched another movie, oh yeah and the couple that met with us brought us cupcakes so had to pig out on those cupcakes lol

We didnt take our cards with us to the room or any of that. MIL took that with her so when we got to dh's house we did all of that. We stayed at the hotel until monday and went straight to dh's parents house after. Our wedding was saturday, but our hm wasnt until 5 days later so thats why we stayed until monday. Then tuesday and wednesday packed and finished up a bunch of things before we had to leave and then thursday night was our flight for hm

I am an out of town bride so mine maybe a little different but we are:

Staying hotel Saturday night (wedding night)
Sunday- having a brunch at the hotel
Late Sunday we are driving back to DC

Monday - I am taking off, going to bank, etc
FH is going to work (he has like NO vacay time and is a workaholic)

Then we are going on honeymoon - Tuesday - Tuesday

One of the reasons we did things this was was because the Monday the week after our wedding was Memorial Day and I refused to fly through Miami on that day (crazy airport with cruises etc)

My parents are having a BBQ the afternoon after the wedding, so we will make an appearance there.
Our wedding is on Friday, and we are leaving for HM on Monday, so we have the whole weekend to recover, pack, and open envelopes.
FH told me he plans on golfing both Saturday and Sunday, totally romantic, huh?!?!?!

SLEEPING !!!

We got married on a Saturday night and stayed at the Garden City Hotel that night. We woke up in the morning and ordered room service and it was the best breakfast I had! I don't remember how the food tasted, but it was just so nice. We went back to our house (we bought a house while engaged) and did last minute packing for the honeymoon. We even went shopping for last minute HM items. Our flight was early Monday morning and a limo picked us up.

It really was a nice relaxing day. My parents stopped by our house to bring my luggage as it was still at their house. DH's brother came by to put up DH's tuxedo to bring back to the store for him. I didn't want to spend the day with friends and family. I wanted to spend with my DH.

We opened our wedding gifts a few days after we got back from our HM.

our wedding is on a fri - so we are staying at a hotel fri night (as well as our bridal party/parents/some family & friends) - saturday morning we'll probably go out to eat breakfast with our parents and then head back home to staten island....we leave sunday morning for our HM and our parents leave to go back to florida that day as well - so i guess saturday we'll hang with them for a bit

We stayed over in the hotel with most of our OOT guests (in a suite of course--DH stayed there on Friday and got ready there also). Sunday morning DH's family hosted a brunch for all OOT guests at the hotel from 9-11, so we got to see everyone again which was nice. We stayed there until 11, checked out and made sure to get all our stuff. My parents went and picked up the rest of our stuff from the RH. Then we went back to my parents and opened all our cards and gifts. We did our last minute packing, DH's mom did dinner with leftovers from the RD (for us, them, and my parents) which was nice, and then we left for our hotel near JFK airport to leave for our HM the next AM (we did a park and fly b/c our flight was so early--my parents gave it as a gift to us).
