Day after Thanksgiving (or ANY holiday, for that matter) brides:

When do you think you'll do the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner?

We're getting married at 5pm, the Friday night after Thanksgiving. Reception starts at 8.

Thursday is out (it's Thanksgiving!)
I think Wednesday is out, too (our church has Wed night Thanksgiving mass)...

What will/did you do?

TIA

We got married the day after Thanksgiving in 2005 and we had our rehearsal dinner the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving...It worked out perfectly!!!! We partied after the dinner and had the next day to relax.

A friend of mine got married the Sat after Thanksgiving and had to have the rehearsal on Tuesday night...it was kind of a pain since I had to take more time off to travel but it was nice to spend that much time with her.

We had our RD and rehearsal on Tuesday, May 24th. Wedding was Friday, May 27th. It was the best decision we made since the days leading up to the 'big day' were chaotic.

I think we're going to have to do that too - luckily all of our BP/family/close friends are local (within 30 minutes or so).

Thanks for the answers so far!

Rich thinks he's going to 'forget things' if we do the rehearsal on a Tues, and the wedding is Fri.

Re: Day after Thanksgiving (or ANY holiday, for that matter) brides:

I am getting married the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I think I am going to have the rehearsal and dinner the Tuesday night. I don't know if I can take the Wednesday night away from Danny since he gets together every year on that night with his friends. It is the biggest bar night of the year and not that we party like that anymore, but him and his friends still get together and go out for dinner and a few drinks until about 8:30pm (when it starts to get to busy). But I think it should be fun since we will be busy Tuesday night with the rehearsal, Wednesday night with his friends, Thursday for Thanksgiving, and then Friday to try to relax a little, and then Saturday will be the big day! Danny is questioning the day that we picked. We originally booked Saturday, December 2, 2006 and then his cousin booked Sunday, December 3rd after us, so we moved our date to November 25, 2006 (and had to pay more money even though we booked first). Danny did not want to because does not like it on the holiday weekend. What do you guys think? Were you guys iffy about that date as well? Do you think people will not be able to make it because they are going away? I hope I made the right decision!

We're getting married the day after Thanksgiving this year and we're planning on having our rehearsal Wed night. We're getting married at East Wind so we don't have to worry about coordinating with a church. If that doesn't work do it Tue night.

We specifically chose the holiday weekend- the holidays are my favorite time of year...the hall will already be decorated for Christmas, and any OOT family will already be here for Thanksgiving.

I LOVE the day after Thanksgiving!

As soon as my mom suggested it...we thought it was a great idea. We have a lot of teachers/students in our BP and figured that weekend was perfect. Plus the hall will be decorated as you said which is really nice.

Re: Day after Thanksgiving (or ANY holiday, for that matter) brides:

That is what I said to him because his family will be here from out of state and my family will be able to come in for the holiday and stay until Sunday now (where we usually do not see them for Thanksgiving). But I think he is worried about his OOT family who now has to take off of work for the week since his cousin is getting married that following Sunday night and they are not going to fly in for our wedding and leave, and then fly back for his cousin's. I think he is just saying that because he is upset about Dec. 2nd because that was the date we both wanted to get married on, and our wedding is completely a Christmas theme and now he is afraid that the Floral Terrace will not be decorated. But when I went there to change the date they promised me it would. Plus now we have to pay an additional $10 per person and we are inviting about 400 people. Oh well, what are you going to do. The day will be beautiful and I think everything happens for a reason!

Have them put it in your contract that it WILL be decorated....thats what I did.

And you're right - everything happens for a reason, and your wedding will be PERFECT!
