Day after Thanksgiving (or ANY holiday, for that matter) brides:

Original post by Shorty McBride

When do you think you'll do the rehearsal & rehearsal dinner?

We're getting married at 5pm, the Friday night after Thanksgiving. Reception starts at 8.

Thursday is out (it's Thanksgiving!)
I think Wednesday is out, too (our church has Wed night Thanksgiving mass)...

What will/did you do?

TIA

Thanks!!!

Are you all doing Christmas or Fall themes? Do you have any ideas for a favor? I was going to do ornaments, but I am not sure yet. Any idea's ladies?

I got married the day after thanksgiving that just past. We had our rehearsal the friday before. Exactly one week before the wedding. It worked out great! I really wanted to be able to enjoy the rehearsal dinner as well. I didn't want it to be rushed and I didn't want to be overwhelmed by nerves from the wedding. We were able to hang out late the night of the rehearsal because the next day no one was working.

I don't know what area you are looking to have your rehearsal dinner but the place where we had it was great and I highly recommend it. It was called 105 Harbor, and it's in Cold Spring Harbor. The food is excellent! They have a private room which is really cozy and it has a working fire place and they have a live Jazz trio on Friday and Saturday nights. Just a suggestion. Good Luck.

Here is the website just in case you're interested. www.105harbor.com

Hey Shorty-
Don't worry about people forgetting what to do, the priest will guide you. The Best man, one of the readers, and the priest weren't at our rehearsal and everything was fine. I have been in weddings where the rehearsal was the night before the wedding, and STILL most people forgot what they were supposed to do. Have the rehearsal whenever it is most convenient.

We're getting married Columbus Day Weekend, and are now planning RD on Thursday before - if we can get our OOT bridal party in NY by then. If not, I have no idea when we are going to do it.

I'm also getting married the Sat after Thanksgiving...we are doing our rehearsal dinner the night before - which is the day after Thanksgiving. We will have a lot of out of towners that we need to entertain so all are being invited to the rehearsal. If it were up to me I'd do it the week before - I want to get a good night's sleep the night before my wedding.
