Day of Coordinator

Original post by mara1017

Hi Girls:

So I met with Gina at Bleu Diamond and I really liked her. I originally thought that I was going to just use her for invitations but when I was talking with her about Day of Coordinator I was starting to think this may be a good idea (not manditory but just give some peace of mind the day of).

I really liked Gina but I think I want to speak with other people and make sure before I make any final decisions.

Let me know what you girls think. I am open to all recommendations.

ryan from above & beyond.. she's great!

Totally agree. Ryan basically saved our wedding day (we forgot the marriage license at the hotel and she was back there and back at the RH with plenty of time to spare)!!!!

She was amazing to work with, so incredibly professional, so reasonably priced, and just a wonderful all-around person. My parents are divorced and my ILs can be a bit of a handful, so I needed someone at my side I could really trust. I met with Ryan twice before the wedding (although we communicated through email a good bit more than just that) and she also came to our rehearsal the night before. It was fabulous because she met everyone who was 'important' and even got to know DH's 4 y/o nephew and 1 1/2 y/o niece the night before too. That way, they were super comfortable with her at the wedding itself, which was great (especially for DH's nephew who was our ring bearer).

My parents do NOT get along at all, and it was fabulous having Ryan as a buffer that they could go to instead of bothering me with little things I didn't want to have to know or think about on our wedding day. It kept the day completely drama free which was amazing!!! My mom was also awaiting a kidney transplant at the wedding time (she had it a month after) and couldn't help me with things like setting up or making sure tips were done, etc, so having Ryan there to trust with all those details was fabulous.

DH is lactose intolerant and we didn't want him having anything with milk at the wedding, and I don't eat red meat, but even though we had told the RH these things, the maitre d' brought us plates of food that completely didn't follow our own dietary restrictions. Ryan was immediately behind her with plates we could both enjoy without my even saying a word! (Both cocktail hour and during dinner, since we did buffets.)

When the DJ asked DH for the balance in the middle of our reception, Ryan had already taken care of it before DH even mentioned it to me while we were sitting at our sweetheart table!

If you're still considering having a DOC, call Ryan and talk to her. You'll be so glad you did!

I still feel bad I never sent vendor TYs (long story short... time got away from me and by the time I was going to send the vendor TYs, it was almost 10 months after the wedding) but I mostly feel bad if Ryan doesn't know what a difference she made for us on our wedding day. Although it was more than a year ago now, I truly credit her with helping to make it the magical, special, perfect day it was.

Feel free to FM me if you want any more info or have any questions! Good luck with your planning!

Thanks for all the responses. I would also like to hear if people had bad experiences with any of the DOCs also.
