I have one. I personally don't want to be bothered with anything on my wedding day and I know my mom would be the one checking on everything and making sure things are running smoothly. I would rather have her enjoy herself on that day and let someone else worry about everything.

As an event planner myself I know I would not be able to enjoy my wedding so it just makes sense for me.

It's definitely not in my budget so it is out of the question for us. I know that I am the kind of person that probably wouldn't do well with a DOC. Since I have started wedding planning I have sort of noticed that I am a control freak and I think I would have a really hard time delegating certain tasks to someone who barely knows me. I don't know. I prob couldn't handle it since I am a bit neurotic that way ![]()

I've gone back and forth with this, and even it was in my budget, I'd use the money for something else!
We're planning well in advance and all using very skilled and experienced halls and vendors. Even if someone were available to 'help out,' I'd still want to know what was going on and make the snap decisions necessary if there is a problem . . .I'd waste my money on someone 'to take the pressure' off, because I'm taking it off myself by double and triple checking in the days and hours leading up to the morning of. I also know my Mom will be checking on everything as well and keeping vendors in line if they aren't already!
I'm sure if my wedding were larger, or the day's schedule were tight, I might feel different, but I've got 150-160 guests and 4 hours between ceremony and CH to make sure all is right with the world AND get my pics done.
You have to do what YOU want and YOU think you'll need, of course, but that's my thoughts.

Thank you all for your opinions and advice. It is well appreciated. I think it is a great gift, but the money might be well used toward something else. lanamanitta you have got some great points.

That is what I think too. My MIL is offering to get me one. I just don't know if it is a wise way to spend the money.
I feel the same way. Plus I'd rather do things myself then have to tell someone to do something.

i say yes....but i work for one and have done event coordination so it would be hypocrytical of me not too!!!! i definately think their helpful.....especially if you have LOTS of details!!!!
