I'm SURE there is a thread somewhere in here (on the 08 board), but I was wondering if any of you were using a DOC?
Since I'm in Boston, and unable to easily get shizzle done for my LI wedding, I'm debating hiring one. But I have NO idea how much individual ones cost, or who is really good.
Can you tell me: 1 - who yours is (if you have one) 1a - if you AREN't having one, reasons why you arent...
2 - how much you are paying for one (you can FM me if you feel uncomfortable posting it on here)
3 - what you get for the $$
I really appreciate the help ladies!

Re: Day of Coordinator
Here's a link to all of the DOC vendors on this site. Linkity link link!
I was thinking about getting one for the day of so that I don't have to rely on the people at the RH to do the whole set up thing. We'll see how funds are on here.

I was thinking about having one, But then I have my sister. She said she will help with everything. So I rather have her do it then pay someone to do it. Thats what she is there for anyways. lol

Re: Day of Coordinator
I believe this service is complimentary with my RH. I'd probably hire one anyway. Who wants to be involved in the logistics. And I don't want my friends and family members have to make sure vendors are doing their jobs.

Re: Day of Coordinator
I'm not going to get one. I think its a waste of money that could be spent elsewhere. FH and I are paying most of the wedding and didnt even consider a DOC. If i had the money, sure I'd do it. Less stressfull knowing that there is someone to make sure everything goes right.

Re: Day of Coordinator
Hi there and congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding. I wanted to drop you a quick FM giving you some details about what a Day of does.
First off, a Day of Coordinator should be by your side from the very beginning of your day, until the very end! As a Day of Coordinator my day begins at your house, the Bride and does not end until I put you and your husband in a car and send you off on your honeymoon.
During your entire affair I make sure that everything goes smoothly. From the most minute detail to the details that no one would think about, I'm on them. From your flowers to your place cards, from spoons, knives and fork to napkins, menues, programs, those are a few of the little details I take care of. Beginning with your ceremony and then moving to your cocktail hour, and making sure your photographer, florist, videographer, DJ or Band, catering hall, etc. set up appropriately and arrive on a timely fashion. I guarantee that a proper timeline is followed and that your entire affair goes smoothly. I will coordinate with your videographer, photographer, limos, DJ and/or Band, reception site and florist to make sure that everything is done according to your wishes. Two weeks and including the week of your wedding I will confirm all your vendors, which includes time of arrival and departure and what their duties will be. I will also attend your rehearsal so that I can meet all your important people (bridal party, parents, etc.). I will coordinate with your photographer and guarantee you that no important picture will be left out. I will coordinate all the dances, the cake cutting, the bouquet toss, etc. and also make sure that no one leaves during these important events of your day. I will also take care of all your final payments and/or tips for the evening so that you do not have to deal with last minute issues with vendors and I carry a complete Emergency Kit for any possible emergency we might find ourselves in. Of course there is so many other details that I could go on and on. We will cover all of them during our meeting.
Just so that you know my long standing policy has been to cater to all my brides and so, you name the time and place and I will be more than happy to meet you. Your consultation is free and I'd be more than happy to set up an appointment with you.
My fee for the Day Of Coordinator is $750. Also feel free to check on the Bride's Review area for a review of my services.
Now as a Wedding Planner, my services would include scheduling and attending all vendor appointments, negotiating all best possible prices, assist in dress shopping (yours, your mothers, your bridal party), shopping for bridal party gifts, favors, invitations, accessories as well as having a DOC for your entire wedding day. The fee for this service is $2,750.
Congratulations once again! Hope to hear from you soon.

Also, is there an underground contingency of people who will REALLLLLLLLY give me the low down on certain DOC's? I feel like everyone RAVES about them....but I wonder where those people are that weren't 100% thrilled with their DOC.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, need to be a super sleuth.

$750 for peace of mind? I say do it. If we didn't book LE and blow our whole darn budget on the RH, I'd definitely get one.

Re: Day of Coordinator
Yeah I think i will hire a DOC. On that day, I really don't want to deal with anything. So this way if something goes wrong, someone else can handle it.
I was actually thinking of getting a wedding planner, not just a doc. But I love doing alot of the things myself, but it would be great to have some help. Plus they can come up with things you would never think of. But ahhh some of them can get controlling and want things their way. They'll sit there and tell you that what you like is wrong because it doesn't go with 'THEIR' vision.

Yikes! I dont want a control freak!
I am just surprised at some of the responses that I've received to my LONG detailed emails/FM's to some DOC's. My situation is difficult - living away from LI, so I wanted to express my concerns. A couple of them obviously cut and pasted a response (which is fine for the things that are included in their packages - who wants to write it out OVER and OVER again!)....but one cut and pasted something that labeled me as a bride getting married at a certain hall - and I'm not even getting married there!! They went on about how they are really familiar with this particular place!!
Maybe I'm being ridiculous, but if I'm spending $$, you should at least READ my requests and take the time to personalize your response correctly!
(They should have a bridezilla icon - I need one right now)

Re: Day of Coordinator
Beachbum- I agree with you. Just wait to see if you get responses from women who are already married and had a DOC, see if they can recommend someone.
Not all of them are like that but quite a few are.

Re: Day of Coordinator
i haven't decided if i want/need one. originally fh and i said we were going to hire a wedding planner/coordinator to make things easier and because they could probably come up with a ton of ideas i might not consider...but im very detail orientated and neurotic as is my soon to be moh....so decided against the planner.
I havent decided if i neeeeed a DOC. im going to talk to the RH because i remember them saying i can drop off everything way in advance and they lock it up and then set it up for me day of.
are u or anyone u know a good planner and been involved in weddings? i guess it doesnt hurt to have one if u dont mind dishing out $750. ive pretty much read good reviews from brides who had them and said they were the best thing ever etc.

Re: Day of Coordinator
Bon it might be good for you to have one since you are so far away.... I was thinking about getting on ebecause lets just say that my sister who is my MOH is not the most organized person in the world and I dont want my mom to spend the whole day doing things for me. I want to be able to boss someone around that I don;t really know..just in case I become a bridezilla....lol
