Day of Make up from counter..

Day of Make up from counter..

I am planning on having my make up done by someone who works at a make up counter at the mall, I have to buy all the make up I'm going to be wearing that day. It comes out to like $250, is that crazy?? Do you think it is worth it??

Why do you have to buy all of it? Is that what they told you or you want to buy all?

My friend did the same for her wedding. She got her hair done then stopped off at a Estee Lauder counter and had her make up done. Worked out great for her.

I think it would be a lot less expensive to have a make-up artist do it in a salon and just buy the lipstick / couple things you'll need to touch up...

Hmmm....that does seem like a lot. My friend recently did the same thing for a wedding she was in, and she only had to spend $50 (MAC) - and they did an awesome job. Granted a lot of makeup artists charge $250 and you don't get to keep the products...so as long as you're happy with the way you look, I say go for it.

That's absurd.

Going to a makeup-counter (ie: MAC) you are required to either pay a flat fee (approx. $50) or buy 4 or more products (approx $50.)

For $150 you can have someone come to your house on the day of, and you won't have to buy a single thing!

Honestly, I think that is a lot of money. My hairstylist is doing my makeup for a lot less than that.

The make up artist is coming to me the day of but I need to buy the products for her to use. Seems kinda crazy, I know!

That's crazy! I am getting mine done in Miller Place at a salon for $60.

I'm having someone from a makeup counter at the mall come to me the day of and do my makeup for a heck of a lot less than that. She did makeup for my sister's wedding, and when I got engaged it was a no brainer to call her up and hire her again. I didn't have to buy anything for either wedding, nor did I pay for a trial for either wedding. I did however make the decision personally to make sure I purchased the lipstick for both weddings, and powder to touch-up for mine.

There is a girl named Thea who works at the Lancome counter in the Smithhaven Mall. She will come to you and she charges way, way less than that. She does beautiful make-up, we used her for my friends wedding and all were very happy. She is very quirky, and just hysterically funny. Great to work with.
