Day of wedding Coordinator?

Is anyone having/had one? Did you really need it and what's a ballpark figure for the day??

Hi Colleen -

I posted about this exact thing a week or two ago, and got mixed reviews. Most people said that the people at the reception hall and your family are more than able to handle everything. I was at a wedding a few weeks ago where the bride paid big $$ for a wedding coordinator, and honestly, I didn't see her doing too much.

I know some girls are using them - just to make sure all the little stuff goes okay - placecards, guest book, tips to vendors, etc.

I think it's completely up to you.

Costs vary from a few hundred to a few thousand for the day.

If you can spare a few hundred, having someone there is a big help and more importantly - peace of mind.

what kinds of things would she do for the day of? Does she do anything before the wedding for you?? I would love to get some things off of my list and get help

I did coordination while I was in college (and a little after) so in my case:

I helped with anything the bride wanted help with. Anything from stuffing envelopes to tying bows to going to dress appts to designing their programs - whatever.

On the day of the wedding, you are the bride and grooms personal 'slave'. You do whatever you can to help and to lessen the load on them. You run interference with vendors, crazy family members. You try to make sure you remember all the little things that stress makes a bride forget. In essence, you do whatever you can to make her happy.

may I ask how much money we are talking. I know you said there is a big range but how much more is it if I need to hire them 6 weeks before the wedding. It may be worth my sanity

I am using the same Coordinator as Stef used for her 10/5 wedding. I think she charges about $500- but that might also depend on what services you need. I just need the peace of mind to be honest.

If there is a friend that you can trust that you believe will do a good job then you can use that person. I had a DOEC, she is my aunt and she was fantastic. She was at the rehearsal, and she was at the ceremony befoere everyone. She made sure everything went off w/o a hitch. I will definitely recommend you use someone, that will be your go to person, b/c on your day you do not want anyone coming to you about anything.
