Who is having a day or evening wedding? I heard from one place it's cheaper to have it during the day is that true? Also how far would you be willing to travel for a wedding? I am having a lot of fights with my parents over the reception being an hour away from our house. Thanks!! Teresa

Re: day or evening wedding?
We are having a Sat evening wedding. I always wanted an evening wedding (I did not care what day of the week it was) but my FILs wanted a Sat night. After they made a generous contrabution we went with the Sat night. When we were looking - quotes for day weddings were MUCH less - 40 to 50 dollars different, also other nights than Saturday was less expensive as well.

Re: day or evening wedding?
From the quotes I received Saturday is the most expensive day and the evenings are significantly more expensive than the daytime because there's more demand for evening weddings. I would be willing to drive an hour for a wedding, even more if the bride/groom was someone close to me.
Good luck planning!

To be honest, I really do prefer a night wedding, but an wedding is fun in my opinion. I have also heard that an afternoon or non-Saturday night wedding is less expensive.

I am having a Friday night wedding, it's cheaper then a Saturday night but a little more then Sunday...I wanted a night wedding...The ceremony starts at 530 and coctail hour immediately follows, so the reception is from 630-1130!

Re: day or evening wedding?
We're having a Saturday afternoon wedding (runs 12-5), with the ceremony and reception at the same place. It was less expensive, although we have a lot of guests driving a couple hours to get there, so we chose afternoon more for travel considerations than cost. Some guests are staying at a hotel anyway, but we didn't want people to feel they had to do that.

I think afternoon wedding are fun. When else do you have an excuse to be bombed at 5 o'clock in the evening??? That being said I had a Saturday evening wedding.

Afternoons in general are less money for most vendors considering it's not as popular as the big Saturday night affair. You should have more negotiation room.

We chose a sunday afternoon because we have a one year old and want her to be a part of it (well thast why we chose a day wedding).
I think certain times of year are cheaper, like dec. to march?

Re: day or evening wedding?
I am not a morning person whatsoever so we decided to do a night wedding. I know that day weddings are usually cheaper. As for it being far away, go with the place you love. Don't settle for a place because it may be a little far away.

Re: day or evening wedding?
HI! I needed to upgrade my room, but in order to do so, I had to push my wedding back one hour, so now it's the same time frame as yours. Did you find that people complained about the time frame? Did a lot of people leave early?
Thanks

Once inside no one knows if it's day or night. We're doing a Sunday afternoon 12-5 in February. Those early sunsets will work in our favor.
