Day vs. Evening Weddings

Hi-Wanted to get opinions on Day versus Evening Weddings? Considering a Saturday day wedding to save some money but didn't know if it would be cheesy or if it would look bad. Also, any know if it gets complicated if you are getting married at a church??Thoughts???

That really depends on what you are looking for.

For me a few things came into play when making this decision:

1. I am not an early bird.... If I had a day wedding I would have to get up really early for getting ready/pictures/etc. I did not want to do this

2. I was set on having a night wedding. With that being said I was not able to do a Saturday night because of the cost. I decided that I would do a Friday night instead! This saved money but kept it a night wedding.

I think Saturday Day weddings are fine. People will still be there for you and still be dancing.

ITA! Personally, I really didn't want to have a daytime wedding. We had our ceremony on Friday at 5 PM and had the reception beginning at 8:30. It was much cheaper and still an evening wedding.

I am getting married on a Sunday in the evening because I wanted to save money but also have it dark when we are dancing the night away.

I have the same schedule jilliibabii. Just like Mara, I was set on having a Saturday evening wedding, but price pp was over my budget so I went for a friday night instead. I don't think there is anything wrong with having a Saturday Day wedding, but a lot of ppl don't work the next day and if your party is ending early i'm sure they would want some type of after party to continue the celebration.

also the whole waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready and take pictures is just not for me either.

We are having a day wedding. FH and I didnt want to wake up and wait all day to get married. This way, we will wake up, get ready and GO! I think I would be up a 5am the day of my wedding even if it was at night because I would be so excited...mine as well get married if I'm up that early!

If you are looking to save $, I would go with a Fri or Sunday evening.....It is just my opinion, but I think people are more willing to 'party' in the evening rather than when it is light out.

Have you considered a wedding in the off-season to save some $ as well?

we were thinking of a day wedding for a while .. infact ALL my prices i was given were for either fri night or sat afternoon i didnt even care to ask about sat night ..
fh really wasnt thrilled about a day wedding .. i liked it bc if you go where it has nice gardens etc they will look more beautiful in the day than night .. IMO ...
after thnking about a day wedding i figured im saving money .. to only prob have to host an after party .. so in the long run .. i didnt think i was saving much ...
HTH ???
we did pay a bit more than we had wanted too .. but we did make it cheaper by picking april rather than may .. and we just loved our hall so much at that point i was DONE lol

I definately don't think its cheesy and I don't think it would look bad.. plenty of girls have saturday day weddings - it all depends on what you're looking for and if you're an early person.

I've never really been a fan of day weddings. I feel like everyone parties more when it's at night - just my opinion!
Also, you need to consider how formal of a party you want. Day weddings tend to be less formal and more cocktail partyish.
Ultimately you have to do what is right for you but think about your entire ambiance and feeling you want to create for your day and whether or not a day or evening wedding would fit better.
Good luck.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with it. I've been invited to weddings on Thursday nights!! We opted to do a Sunday morning wedding because out venue is so amazing during the day.Additionally, I'm Jewish as is FH and we wouldn't be able to get anyone (religious enough to make the fam happy) to marry us on a Friday night. We looked into Saturday night, as this was our first choice, but sundown was way too late and my poor grandma would be eating dinner at 11pm. As teachers, we were set on the month - so our decision was fairly easy.

If you want to get married in church you will not be able to get married in the day time on a sunday bc there is mass going on all day. Saturday is ok though.

I personally would not want a day Wedding. I don't like the idea of waking up sooooo early to get ready. But even for Sat. night weddings people still wake up early for church ughhh. I opted to get married at the hall to avoid getting up super early at all.

I would also prefer a Sunday evening wedding over any day wedding. That was my second choice.

if you really want a saturday night wedding look to see how much it is in the off season. We save ALOT by having our Saturday night wedding in March. I am in dfiffrent to either time of the day because people seem to disappoint and still wont come. Like we really wanted to have the Saturday night wedding because we thought of all the OOT guest on FH side and we still got tons of no's. Really do what is going to be the best for you and FH because in the end its really about you both no matter what day and time you get married. Good Luck!!!

This sounds a lot like my reasoning. Also, we chose a venue with a gorgeous outdoor area and view and big windows... which would be wasted at night. With a day wedding, you can always have an afterparty to keep partying late into the night.

That's because good minds think alike - since we have the same RH :)

you have to do what you want and what you can afford. I prefer night weddings cause it feels like a party, not to say that i havent been to day time weddings were at 2 pm people arent afraid to throw back some margaritas! You can always have a day wedding and then continue the party else where

Re: Day vs. Evening Weddings

I'm having a sat day wedding. I first wanted to do friday night because people might party more. Then I considered how my RH has lots of windows allowing pretty sunlight in, how sat day is more convenient for traveling guests than fri night, and how I'll be with my FH ALL day on OUR WEDDING day :) instead of spending much of the day preparing separately. There will be a more intimate after party, the party will just keep going haha. And then we can spend time together in our hotel room with champagne and a hot tub ;) Plus, I'm going to dance and party day or night. We did also hire very good entertainment, so I'm confident they'll get people up and dancing.
