we are having a day wedding. It wasn't based on money.
We chose to have it because 1) we are getting married on the water and we wanted to take advantage of the great view 2) I want to see FH as soon as possible. If you have a night wedding you wind up spending the whole day apart now by noon I will be his wife!!! 3) we will have a fun relaxed after party.

if you really want a saturday night wedding look to see how much it is in the off season. We save ALOT by having our Saturday night wedding in March. I am in dfiffrent to either time of the day because people seem to disappoint and still wont come. Like we really wanted to have the Saturday night wedding because we thought of all the OOT guest on FH side and we still got tons of no's. Really do what is going to be the best for you and FH because in the end its really about you both no matter what day and time you get married. Good Luck!!!
Same here!

You guys are soo nice! I'm loving this blog because it's really helpful and great to connect with other brides :)... I think on Saturday we are going back to see Marina del Rey (our potential venue) and since we are going at 4pm I'm going get a good look/feel for the room that time of day. Why can't all this be easy lol Is anyone going to the bridal extravaganza in April?? I signed up because figured it could be fun.

If you want to get married in church you will not be able to get married in the day time on a sunday bc there is mass going on all day. Saturday is ok though.
This. How about a Sunday evening wedding? We are getting married on a Sunday, it was less per person, and getting married in the Church at 3:30 pm. We are doing the Sunday before Columbus day.

I am thinking to have the ceremony on the top of the great montain, that I dreamed for a long time.
When the sun is rising, we begin the ceremony at the same time.
But I think there are lots of thing to prepare and arrrange....

I went to one. This year for the first time, It was rough getting there you know fully dressed and makeuped with heels at noon, and we all had our comments on the way there (i had to take off of work, so did a lot of ppl) BUT, it was a great time, and was kind of nice to eat coctails early we had a good time. Just brace yourself for the comments - dont ask too many ppls opinions, thats what i learned. Im doing a half day, half night 4-10

I'm doing the same as you! But just our cocktail HR & reception are from 330-930. I wanted to have the best of both day & night with a summer sunset lol

That really depends on what you are looking for.
For me a few things came into play when making this decision:
1. I am not an early bird.... If I had a day wedding I would have to get up really early for getting ready/pictures/etc. I did not want to do this
2. I was set on having a night wedding. With that being said I was not able to do a Saturday night because of the cost. I decided that I would do a Friday night instead! This saved money but kept it a night wedding.

I'm having a day wedding on Saturday. Everything ends there at 5:30 but us and the bridal party are gonna take a nap in the hotel next door than change and continue the party elsewhere. That's just an idea to throw out, if you have a day wedding. The party doesn't have to stop.

I've never really been a fan of day weddings. I feel like everyone parties more when it's at night - just my opinion! Good luck.

You have to do what is right for you.
I wanted a crazy party vibe...so we went for a night wedding reception. Our ceremony was during the day though.

Re: Day vs. Evening Weddings
I'm doing a friday day wedding. It is a very cheap option and great for my budget. I do worry that people won't show up, but if they love me they should get up early. Instead of getting up to go to work they are going to an awesome party instead.
Based on some of the other comments I agree that I would be a nervous train wreck waiting all day to get ready and see my FH.
What's great is that my RH has no windows but uplighting so it will feel like night time anyway.

I don't think a day wedding is cheesy or will look bad at all, but day weddings definitely have a different feel. I kind of like day weddings because you can have a lot of it outdoors and it's sunny and nice, and you're not hungover the next day. You cna go home and relax and reminisce about the great wedding.
A day wedding was not an option for us because it's just not a 'party' time. Of course this depends on your crowd, but I think in general day weddings are a little more sedate. I want people drinking, dancing, etc. I also wanted evening formal attire. I think a spring daytime garden wedding would be soooo adorable though

Thats exactly why i like it. I think photos outside during the day are so much prettier. Plus there is gonna be alot of eating and dancing regardless of what time a wedding is. And if you have a afternoon wedding, you can either relax after with your new husband or continue the party elsewhere in a more casual environment.
