Re: Day wedding
Do you think it would be 'acceptable' to expect people to pay for their own drinks at all at an after party? I feel obligated to also do this along with the wedding but it is really not something we can afford after spending all this money.

I've been thinking about this also!!
I want ideas too :)
Most of FH's family and friends are from OOT, so I wanted to do something...but not something that is expensive from our end...

Re: Day wedding
bridal party is going bowling! lol. but mostly just for pictures :) FH has been on bowling leagues since he was 5 so its something cute and fun, we will even have the photographer come with us... now we just need to inform the bowling alley ;)
But we are also having an after party back at the hotel. I will probably arrange for some snacks but people are on thier own for drinks at that point.
We are having a welcome party on saturday night too so i think thats enough. Drinks will only be free on wedding day.

Re: Day wedding
a coworker of mine said that she rented a party bus and had her dj make an announcement at the end of the reception that whoever wanted to go to the after party at the bar feel free to get on the bus... the bus took them to a bar in huntington (and with so many people they completely took over the place) and they spent the rest of the night there, she said it was so much fun... i may do something like that as well!

Re: Day wedding
try a bar or bbq...If you do it at a bar (say the hotel bar for example) people will usually purchase their own drinks AND they will buy the bride and groom drinks...

Re: Day wedding
After the wedding at the WM we went to the Marriott (near the Nassau Coliseum) and continued the party. Most people had rooms there too. Good deal! :)

Re: Day wedding
I am having a day wedding as well but we are lucky to have a bar in our RH seperate from the reception area...I would def see if maybe you can get a dirt cheap hall or maybe a local bar.

That is the BEST IDEA YET! I love that! I wish I could do that! But I can't ... no beach... night wedding... November... I could go on but I won't. I'll just live vicariously through you... juse PLEASE remember to post pictures! I really LOVE this idea! I love love love the beach. If I could deal with the heat we would of had a beach wedding. Also my ex had a beach themed wedding... so that was another reason to not have that... I don't want to do anything the same as that a$$. Ha ha!
