days off from work pre-wedding ...

Original post by AwaitingAugust

I know a lot of you are taking the entire week before your wedding off from work ... is that really necessary?

I only have one vacation day to use (HM and FH's family trip are taking up the rest of my vacation time) so if i take any more than one day, it'll have to be un-paid. Is is worth it?

Not sure if it matters but my wedding's on Sunday so i'lll def have Fri & Sat off from work.

TIA!

Well, I am taking the entire week before my wedding and two days after after it, since I am not going on my HM until September.

I hear it is worth having time to get all the last minute things and take care of any unexpected things, as well.

We are getting married on a Sunday and I took off Thursday and Friday. I already have off Saturday and Sunday. I took off those 2 days because The church rehearsal is on Thursday and the rehearsal dinner is on Friday.

I'm getting married on a Friday. I'm taking the full week off plus the Thursday and Friday before (as its Thanksgiving). I'm am working though the Monday after the wedding since our minimoon is a few weeks later.

I just counted and I'm only working 7 DAYS in all of DECEMBER!!! woo hoo!

I'm only taking 2 days prior to the wedding...maybe just one as the date gets closer and I see how I feel :)

I don't have many vacation days to spare with my job and HM is pretty much wiping me out!!

i'm originally planning to work the sunday, monday and tuesday nights before the wedding.. so that leaves me weds and thurs off before. I might use some holiday time so that maybe i will only work that monday or something..

seems like so much pressure to decide so far in advance! i feel like i wont know until the week before how much time i need!!

My wedding is on a Saturday, I took off Thursday and Friday. Trying to get FH to take off Friday so he can rest a little (and help get some stuff done)

I am using all of my vacation days for our honeymoon so I am only taking the day b/f my wedding off and that will be unpaid. I actually might shoot for 2 days unpaid off but I have to see if my boss freaks out about it. I think at least 2 days off, b/f your actual wedding date is a good way to go.

HTH!

I'm getting married Sunday, I had planned to take off starting the Wednesday before (our RD is Thursday so I wanted one more last minute day). I work weird hours so it just worked out that my last day is the Monday before the wedding, so I'm off almost a week before the big day BUT this is mostly luck and if I had limited vacation days I would NOT be using them for this!
