Daytime Party... Open Bar ?

Is it necessary or more 'proper' to have open bar if we have a daytime party (at a restaurant)?

Another vent I just called one place, and askd for a price range. Then I asked, what about if we dont want open bar. He said a few things:
'Well, really its the staff that has to be there, at the bar anyway, whether is just wine beer and soda or open bar'
'and you wouldnt do this at your house right?'
'Isnt it really about making everyone happy?'
'It will really only save you $2-$3 a head, and its really not worth it, you know what I mean?'

I basically had NO OPTION to have my CHOICE of NOT having open bar!
I HATE when they try to talk you out of what you are thinking...
Is it just me, or is that normal ?

There's never open bar at showers, and no one really drinks up at daytime parties. I would just do wine beer and soda...

I think beer wine & soda if fine for a day party!

I don't like that he made it seem WRONG to only offer those choices! Just because they have liquor in the restaurant does NOT mean you have to buy it. If that's the case, why not offer a full menu??

I think beer, wine and soda is fine, especially during the day. That man has no idea how to do business.

That is totally wrong. Good places, whether they are high end or not should do their best to accomodate YOU. You are giving them business. Be cautious! Hope it all works out!

some guests may like an open bar? unless you have beer, soda and wine
