Daytime wedding question

Our wedding is going to be from 1pm to 6:30pm and I'm hoping we'll get an hour and a half to two hours of darkness in there so people will be in more of a dancing mood.

For those of you that have either attended or thrown a day wedding themselves my question is: Is it worth it to have a DJ and an MC to motivate people? Or can I get away with just a DJ?

TIA!

Re: Daytime wedding question

Our wedding was 1-5, and it was light the entire time. I think that if you have a good DJ and MC, then it doesn't matter what time of day it is, people will be up and dancing. Our MC kept our dance floor packed (Frankie from Tommy Tunes). Would definitely recommend him

THIS!!! I have been to weddings where he was the MC and he was awesome. We are using Joe from TT, he is just as fun! ID highly suggest Tommy Tunes to get a crowd going

Daytime wedding question

If you have it in your budget go for an MC also. Day weddings can be tricky. I've been to ones where everyone is going crazy and others where nobody was really into dancing and drinking in the middle of the day. If you know the people coming to your wedding are going to be up and dancing the whole time regardless then maybe you don't need one.

Daytime wedding question

Thanks ladies, I think we'll have a pretty good crowd but maybe an MC would be worth it so I don't stress.

What is a good price for both? I don't have the paperwork in front of me but last night I got a quote for ceremony music, mic for officiant, cocktail hour CD, and DJ+MC for reception for either $1700 or $1800 I don't remember which but I'm pretty sure it was $1800. No MC it was $1200. Is that reasonable?

Daytime wedding question

Agreed that's a great price
ETA- I think the splurge on an MC is worth it IMO for a daytime wedding

Daytime wedding question

from our research, you need a MC regardless. and from reading this, i agree w/ it being more important for the day wedding

1800 seems reasonable!

Daytime wedding question

An MC will needed no matter what the day of your time is. He or she can set the mood in anyway or another. Good luck! :)
