Daytime wedding -- What is your fiance wearing?

Does anyone know if wearing a traditional black tux (black bow tie, etc.) is appropriate for a daytime wedding?

Daytime wedding -- What is your fiance wearing?

I think it is, but we want a more relazing atmosphere for a Sat afternoon wedding. My fi is wearing a suit, white shirt w/ silver tie or ivory shirt and ivory tie to make it look a little more formal. This also has to do w/ my dress: no train, very simple.

I think you can wear whatever you want ...

it is your wedding. We are having a daytime wedding, pretty formal, on Sunday and my FH is wearing a tux with a longer jacket. The guys and fathers are all wearing tuxes too.

my FH made this choice

Etiquette, if you want to be real proper, says tuxes should not be worn before 6 p.m. in the evening. For daytime weddings, the men should be in morning coats or stroller coats, which still makes it look like a tux, but with a longer jacket. Some say it's better they wear gray instead of black. However, my FH threw that out the window, and for our daytime wedding in May, he and the dads and ushers are wearing black tuxes, with full-back vests in a back and silver paisley. However, the jackets they are wearing are a bit longer than normal - 3/4 length. I think it looks great, so in this case, I don't care about etiquette. you can do what you want!!

This is what we did..

Our ceremony began at 11:30, and the reception went until 5pm. And, traditionally they say that my fiance should've worn a 'morning suit', which I think is grey. But to heck with that - we wanted to look the way we wanted to look, and so he wore a black tux and white bowtie, and yes, his tux had tails!!! It was what he dreamt of wearing, and I agreed! It looked great!

I agree-go with what makes you happy!!

My fi made the decision on men's apparel-our ceremony is at 4:30 and he wanted to wear tails, so he is!! The guys and Dads are in regular tuxes.
