I'm having an afternoon wedding. I love love love natural light and sunlight and wanted to be able to have an outdoor cocktail hour and find a place with lots of windows in the CH room.

I am not married yet but I had my bat mitzvah in the afternoon and everyone partied just like nighttime. Plus, it leaves time for an afterparty.

we JUST watched our video last night for the first time & people we DANCING! We had people doing the WORM. I am not even kidding.

Plus after the wedding, we went to a bar for an 'after party' and watched the sunset over the water. It was FABULOUS!

where did you go for your after party? not sure if we'll just go back to the OOT hotel or if we should go outout

Me! What do you need to know?

i wanted to see pics of what it all looks like in bright light. i love your pics! but my FH is a little worried about people feeling awkward about tearin it up on the dance floor in broad daylight.

Everyone went nuts at our wedding, other than it being light out, you wouldn't have know it was the day time. DAY WEDDINGS ROCK!!!!!!!!

Time for the afterparty was a BIG reason we chose a Sat afternoon wedding! If we had it on Fri night, it would have ended at 1:30AM.... way too late for an afterparty if you ask me. We'll be at a bar by 7:30 now and will have the whole night to party.

i was hoping to do just that, if we can muster enough energy
where are you going for your AP?

We are going to Finley's in Huntington. FH's brother used to work there, and we used to go there a lot on Sunday afternoons with Fh's parents, for drinks / apps .. we know a lot of the bartenders and it will be awesome. I can't wait!

We've been to a daytime wedding and at first we were like, blah, a daytime wedding. But once it got going it was really nice! I don't think anyone partied less cause it was the daytime!

I'm having a day time wedding. My place does a really good job at making the room dark during the day if you want it to be dark. I would ask your hall.

Same here. A lot of people told me afterwards that they forgot it was the day time because the room was so intimate, dim, and romantic with lots of candles.

I have been to a wedding during the day where the view was amazing (meaning you would definitely want to get married during the day!) but it was really weird to dance and drink. I had a hard time with it. Definitely talk to the DJ and your hall to ask for their recommendations on how to make it feel more evening - if that's what you are looking for.

HTH!

Here are some pics of my wedding (lots more in album)

yeah, that's what my FH was worried about - the weird factor with drinking & dancing in broad daylight. and the room we're in has glass ceilings, so there'd be no cover - just bright.

i actually crossed my mind to fill a part of the glass ceiling with black balloons (color of my bm's dresses) to hide from all the light a bit. then i thought, maybe a tent. i'm slowly losing it. i need a glass of wine now...

Dewdrop, that's hysterical. Do you think the Fox Hollow would go for the balloons???

oh my lord, i doubt it. but i have thought about asking them if we could switch rooms and have our reception in one of the other rooms which has little to no daylight shining in. just not sure we'd have enough people, and if those rooms are even available. it's almost time for wine...

We had our reception in the daytime and you couldn't tell really. Little brighter than a night ceremony, but certainly not odd and embarrasingly bright.

You'd switch your room?? Really? I wouldn't have picked the Fox Hollow if not for the WGP. I looooove that room. I would love it more at night, yes, but I still love the room.

Let's pray for overcast days. :) They can also leave the lights off most likely!

ETA: Honestly, the last thing we are going to be thinking of that day is 'Oh, it's so bright in here.' We are going to partying like there's no tomorrow and we will be having a fantastic time, no matter what. Don't you think????

Hey dewdrop
Our friend's wedding last October was during the day and although we didn't do too much dancing, there were lots of people on the dance floor the whole time, remember? Don't switch rooms. That room is beautiful! Like lots of people said, get a couple drinks in everyone and good music (which it will be) and they'll be on the dance floor.

I am having a wedding in the afternoon too. CH at 12pm. My FH isn't crazy about it, but i know that a lot of people like daytime weddings. It gives the OOT people time to get home, and we can have a fun after party!

We had a Sunday day time wedding and we had a fabulous time and so as our guest. The dance floor was packed, the drinks never stop coming, the food was excellent and everyone had a great time.

I think its all about your music, our band know how to read the crowd and they keep the dance floor full without resorting to chezzy songs (our do not play list)

Nevermind I just went back and saw what time it was. You will definitely have some twilight/darkness towards the end of your wedding- in my opinion- the best of both worlds with some daylight and some evening!!!

Also, my friend that I said that got married in the day where it was a little awkward was in the middle of July - you can't get more bright than that. I think February will be a different story. It will be great!!!!!
