Yes, dancing is a bit awkward at daytime weddings, I admit. The weather that day was beautiful too, so lots of people were outside. If yours is in feb, I'd think you'd be able to keep your audience inside

Also, talking to your DJ might help.

Im having mine during the day.. It ends at 5 but Im going to see if we can end it at 6 instead...
I think it might be a little awkward dancing during the daytime but then again... You take what you have, and you make the best of it... Im going to have a good time and be silly stupid regardless..... And its going to be indoors so Im sure its not going to be super light.... But we shall see!

I am also having a day wedding and kinda bummed about it, but FH really wanted it since our place has a nice view and is filled w/windows.

See what your dj's advice is regarding a daytime wedding. (If you don't have one, I highly recommend mine--DJ Gary Hoffmann.)
Your dj probably has some experience w/daytime weddings and how they go. He/she should be able to read the crowd, and determine what's going to get them dancing, if that's what you want.

I'm having a day time wedding. My place does a really good job at making the room dark during the day if you want it to be dark. I would ask your hall.

I agree. My wedding is from 2:30-6:30, and I am hoping it gets darker around 5, 5:30, when most of the dancing will be happening. If you are dancing, and your FH, bridal party, good friends are dancing, people will dance. You as the bride should set the tone, and people will want to dance with you. I was worried about this a bit, but then I thought about it more - I have a great band, fun people who will dance and I will be dancing my a$$ off so I am not too worried!

i checked the sunset time on my day and it says it starts at 5:13 and gets completely dark at 5:42 - reception ends at 6....but i'm hoping we can extend it to at least 6:30

My best friend's wedding was at 11AM in July 2 years ago. I was miserable at first -- having to be there at 10AM for pictures, etc. But once the party started and everyone had a couple of drinks, you really forgot it was daytime. We had a great time!

I got married at 11 am & cocktail hour began at noon. We loved it.

I'm having an afternoon wedding. I love love love natural light and sunlight and wanted to be able to have an outdoor cocktail hour and find a place with lots of windows in the CH room.

I am not married yet but I had my bat mitzvah in the afternoon and everyone partied just like nighttime. Plus, it leaves time for an afterparty.

Time for the afterparty was a BIG reason we chose a Sat afternoon wedding! If we had it on Fri night, it would have ended at 1:30AM.... way too late for an afterparty if you ask me. We'll be at a bar by 7:30 now and will have the whole night to party.

Plus after the wedding, we went to a bar for an 'after party' and watched the sunset over the water. It was FABULOUS!
