Deadlines ... getting a little stressed (again!)

Okay, postage rates are set to go up July 1 and I`m planning on sending out my invites in 2 weeks, right before they go up. Things have just been so hectic these days, I`m having a hard time trying to keep up. I still have to finish my thank-yous from the bridal shower, but I really need to get working on the wedding invitations. Trying to finalize the guest list has been so hard. Everytime I try to cut it down, I end up adding a couple more names! Is 2 weeks a legitimate amount of time to accomplish this while working 2 jobs, or am I setting myself up for a disaster? Our 'definites' on the guest list are hovering around 200 and we plan on using the computer to address the envelopes, plus I still need to finish about 25 thank-yous for the shower.

Deadlines ... getting a little stressed (again!)

'Is 2 weeks a legitimate amount of time to accomplish this while working 2 jobs, or am I setting myself up for a disaster?' It's plenty of time IF you relax and just take one task at a time. I was in the same posiion as you in May, only instead of working 2 jobs, I was a full time grad student. I totally slacked on stuffing my invitation envelopes until the week they had to go out, and then I freaked out because besides that, I still had to do my shower thank you's and finish my graduate thesis. I enlisted my bridesmaids to help, and we had an envelope stuffing party, and they gave me the same 'relax' advice I gave you. SO... pick the job you want to tackle first, grab some willing helpers and a bottle of wine, take a deep breath, and get started. Once you get a bit done you will feel much less overwhelmed! Believe me, you will get through this! : )

JennRenee & Yabbobay:

Thanks JennRenee ... this week has been one of the rougher ones in a while, but I know you`re right. Yabbobay .. yes, the post office did just raise rates not too long ago. But they are set to raise rates again. Regular postage will remain 34 cents, but added postage will be going up .. I think from 55 cents to 57 cents. I had plained on mailing my invites after July 4th, but since I was concerned over whether the post office would have the new stamps ready, and don`t want to add penny stamps on to the old stamps, and as sort of a 'take that' to the post office, I moved up the mailing date those few days. I plan on walking into the post office at the end of the month with a big box of invites in hand and a big smile on my face. :)

Getting the invitations out was hard, as is finishing the guest list. However, 2 weeks is should be enough. However, you will feel much better and the whole thing will go better if you get help. Try not to schedule anything optional during that time and have a 'stuffing envelopes party.' Also try to enlist someone with a computer and printer to help with the envelopes. I recommend doing the inside envelopes first if they are lined. I came into work an hour early each day to do them because my printer at home could not handle the thickness. What a relief when it was done! The envelopes came out great.

Postage Rates???

I have heard nothing about postage going up in July, and I was just at the post office earlier this week. Are you sure about a postage increase? I couldn't even find anything about it on the USPS website.

MikkiRed:

Yes, I am absolutely 100% positive rates are going up July 1. I have spoken with the post office several times trying to find out if the new 57 cent (or whatever it`s going to be) stamp would be ready in time for the rate change, since I was originally going to send the invites right after July 4th. No one could give me a guarantee that they would be, so I`m mailing before the rate hike. It was in the news several weeks ago. Basically the USPS can`t seem to make any money, so even though they just raised rates early this year, they are raising some rates again. There was also talk at that time of how the USPS wanted to stop Saturday mail delivery, but that was met with too much opposition, so they scrapped that idea for now. 34 cent stamps will stay at 34 cents. But the rate for extra weight is going up.
