Dear :
FH:
When you screwed up Valentine's Day even though you knew it was important to me by not doing a single thing to acknowledge it despite us staying at your friends where the husband surprised the wife with a huge display first thing in the morning, I got over it and told you I wished you had done something, anything. You apologized profusely and said I was right and you would make it up to me for my birthday you already had plans etc.
Well, its my birthday. Not even moving when I got up this morning, no happy birthday, no card or surprise waiting, and no phone call or text message are NOT ok. It is not sufficient to say 'hey birthday girl' over gchat when I message you at 10am. It is not ok that you have NOTHING planned for tonight and want me to choose a restaurant, yet every one I suggest has some bad reviews or is too pricey, according to you. It is NOT ok that I planned my whole own party for Saturday night, and you complained about how much it would cost to get some trays of hot food. It is NOT ok that I am going to spend all of Saturday running around preparing, cleaning and setting up while you spend all day at a comic convention in the city.
Last year you did nada for my birthday. It was passover, so I understood, even though I didn't even get a card or a phone call in the morning. When you didn't plan anything for our last anniversary, or any of our anniversaries...but you PROMISED you would do better.
This doesn't count. My birthdays usually s*ck pretty bad. Thank you for adding to the longstanding tradition by fighting with me, making me feel bad for being upset, and making me cry at work.
Love,
Your extremely unhappy 'birthday girl' FW
