DEAR AETNA

DEAR AETNA

Dear Aetna,

I would just like to say thank you so much for everything you've done. Sending the paperwork to FH to instate his COBRA coverage nearly 4 months after he had left the original job was just swell. All we had to do was pay you the $1200 that it would have cost us to have coverage during those 4 months and all would be fine with the world. FH and I were desperate for him to be covered since FSD was going without health insurance as well, so we paid you.

Then, we sat and waited for a bill from you, to tell us you wanted more money. The bill never came, and we kind of wondered, but we figured if you really wanted your money, you would ask us for it. I want to thank you SO MUCH for canceling our coverage as of 22 days after we sent you that $1200 because we never paid for January...how silly of us to think that we had to have ESP to know how much money you wanted and when. The most wonderful part of you canceling our coverage was when you elected to NOT TELL US that it was canceled. Since FH thought he was covered, he went to the doctor and cardiologist to get a change in his heart medication and he also went to a geneticist so that he could have a long-standing non-diagnosis finally answered. You see, FH is worried that he may have Marfans and would like to take the necessary precautions to LIVE A FULL LIFE...so he went to see all these doctors, BECAUSE HE THOUGHT HE HAD HEALTH INSURANCE.

Finally, I really want to tell you that we are deeply grateful that you denied our appeal to reinstate the insurance. Thank you for not even bothering to read our letter full of very valid reasons for our non-payment, including the statement that we were prepared to pay all the back payments IN FULL. Now that you've denied our appeal, we are forced to try and negotiate with the various doctors and specialists to see if we can pay less than the over $2000 that we owe to them since you left us out in the cold. Oh, and thank you for doing all this 3 1/2 months before we are set to get married, because we don't have enough to worry about right now.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for letting us pay you $1200 to fck us up the a$$.

Wait a minute... COBRA paperwork is supposed to come from the former employer, not the insurance company. And they only have 14 days to do it by law. Did they employer not send it in time?!?!?! They would be at fault and they would have to reinstate you... unless I'm just reading this wrong...

Apparently I was mistaken, I thought this was from FH's other job in Ohio, but it was from his first job in NY. They sent him notification that he was eligible for COBRA and that he would be receiving paperwork from them within the next couple of weeks...which we did. Then all this started. I had no idea until just now haha
